Around 293.5k of my Miles & More miles are due to expire on 31/12/2024. The most cost-effective way to keep them is probably to book flights for December 2025 and then rebook on the same route closer to the booked travel date or cancel for a refund, in either case paying a €50 fee per passenger.
LHR-BKK-LHR seems to have plenty of availability in business class and would cost me 284k miles for 2 passengers, but this cost falls 9.5k miles short of my expiring miles. I have a total of 296k miles. Are there any routes where I could pay between 293.5k and 296k?
The awards table at https://www.miles-and-more.com/content/dam/mmg/touchpoint/web/pdf/Flight_Awards_EN.pdf doesn’t show all the options, for example Flex Plus redemptions, which appear to be available on some routes, costing more miles and less money.
Be aware that your miles won’t be refunded if you cancel an award booking after the expiry date of the miles.
Your remaining 9.5k miles could be spent on gift cards such as Amazon. Not great value, but better than zero if you find no other options.
