I have a booking for the end of August from a free night certificate that was expiring Dec 2021.
Now, it doesn’t really fit into our plans. I was wondering if I’d cancel would it renew itself with a new date or would I lose it?
I’m pretty sure you’d lose it; IHG stopped giving out extensions some time ago. I’ve never heard of a particular hotel being able to help either, they always seems to say you have to cancel and rebook – which of course is no help if you then lose the certificate.
IHG would technically be able to move it for you but you might need a better reason than it not fitting in with your plans!
I think the expiry date is supposed to be ‘book by’ rather than ‘book and stay by’ (for the Creation version, not the Chase version). There was a HfP post on this being fixed back in November, but I’m currently arguing with IHG about booking for beyond the date.
Anyone had any recent experience of this?
