I have booked a flight to India end Feb 2023. I booked it in July this year and used a 2 4 1 voucher earned last year when I reached the £10000 threshold in November 2021. II did not spend any more on this card after reaching the threshold. I have just earned another voucher for November 2022. Because of the difficulties getting an Indian visa, I might cancel these flights in a few weeks time. This would entail a refund of £1500 taxes and charges, plus avios and the voucher. How will this credit effect my Amex account as technically I did not spend £10000 after the £1500 refund is taken into account. Does it just come off my spend for the year starting 6th November 2022. Hopefully they won’t rescind a later voucher.
Yes, you will get the voucher refunded and it will stay in your account. Whatever cash element you paid will be refunded to your Amex, minus £35 pp, and this will be added to the spend requirement to trigger your next voucher.

It’s probably too late now but cancelling it so that the money arrived before 6th November would have been the best bet. You are now faced with spending £11,500 to trigger your 2023 voucher.
