IHG has launched a new hotel cashback deal with American Express.
If you are targetted, you will see this deal under the ‘Offers’ tab for one or more of your Amex cards on the statement page. You need to opt-in. 80,000 registrations will be accepted – a big jump on the 58,000 accepted last time this offer ran.
I had it on my Platinum card but not my British Airways American Express. My wife is in exactly the same position but I think this is just down to chance – I doubt that British Airways cards are excluded. Check whatever cards you have …. except Marriott Bonvoy ones, of course!

Here is the deal:
- receive £75 back when you spend £300 (cumulative)
- spend must be made by 30th June
- only valid on checkout spend, not prepaid bookings
- only valid at selected European hotels
As usual, whilst this is forbidden by the rules, it is highly likely that a prepaid booking WILL count towards the cashback.
One reader had an issue recently where an IHG hotel processed a prepaid booking via the head office of the management company, which meant it didn’t count. The majority of properties process prepaid bookings onsite via the same credit card account used for regular guests.
The list of participating hotels is here (PDF).
Participating brands include Garner, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, voco, Staybridge Suites, InterContinental, Regent, Vignette and Kimpton.
As usual, Ireland and Portugal are excluded due to the lack of Amex issuance in those countries.

Regular users of these IHG offers will know that the list is always put together in a random way. IHG has excelled itself this time by listing each brand separately, meaning that you need to read all 13 sections to see, for example, which hotels in Paris are participating. On the upside, it is alphabetical by country inside each of the 13 sections – until you get to the end (Staybridge Suites) where old habits return and the list is totally random.
voco St David’s Cardiff is pictured above. The slightly less enticing Holiday Inn Express London Wandsworth is pictured at the top – whoever took that photograph deserves an award for making it look so good ….
There is no global bonus points offer alongside this
Unfortunately, there is no way of double dipping with this offer and a current IHG bonus points promotion.
The last global offer ended last week and no replacement has been announced yet. Some people have been emailed with targetted offers – I got one offering 3,000 points for a two night stay for example.
I would be shocked if we didn’t see a new ‘open to all’ bonus points offer launched before the American Express cashback deal ends on 30th June.
Register now because it will disappear from cards when the registrations target is hit.
The IHG home page for bookings is here.
