(DEAD?) Got a PayPal account? Get 25% off IHG hotel bookings

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

IHG, owner of the InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites etc brands, has launched a new partnership.

Until the end of June, anyone with a PayPal account will get a 25% discount on their IHG hotel bookings.

Even better, rooms booked under this offer are fully cancellable.

(EDIT, 7.30am – this rate appears to have been pulled. We will investigate.)

Get 25% off IHG hotel bookings with PayPal

You can find this offer on the IHG website here.

Here are the rules:

  • you must stay at least two nights
  • your stay must include at least one night on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday
  • you must book at least seven days in advance
  • you will save at least 25% off Best Flexible Rate
  • unlike IHG sale rates, your discounted room retains roughly the same cancellation rules as Best Flexible Rate – you can cancel without penalty within 3-7 days of arrival, depending on hotel
  • stays earn IHG One Rewards points as usual
  • the last day to book is 30th June but stays can be at a later date

In theory you can be asked to prove that you have a PayPal account at check-in.

You won’t be paying for the room by PayPal – indeed, this isn’t even possible. You will pay at check-out as usual.

Here is an example from Kimpton Fitzroy in London (image above) for a stay in London:

IHG PayPal partner discount

As you can see, the PayPal promo rate is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than any other booking option, even non-refundable ones.

If you don’t have a PayPal account (not that you need one to book, but you will need one if you want to remain entirely within the terms of the offer), my referral link here gives you £10 when you make your first payment of £5+ for a product or service via PayPal within 30 days.

Bookings must be made via this page of the IHG website.

Hat-tip to Loyalty Lobby.

  • Leyla says:

Can’t get it to work and I as tried several dates , countries and even the hotel that was used as an example in the article

  • Nick says:

I have seven current IHG bookings with IC & Indigo and have looked up the rates for each today, but sadly no PayPal option is being offered for any of them. Will try again later.

  • Ross says:

I haven’t been able to get this rate for any hotel/date combination I’ve tried. @Rob has the offer been pulled?

  • Colin says:

    4. Eligible PayPal users can make bookings through the following link  which will be available in PayPal channels at participating IHG Hotels and Resorts.
(Cant see the following link that was mentioned)

  • J2 says:

The rate was available a week ago (checked for hotels in London and Porto) but it appears to be down or pulled at the weekend, for reasons unknown despite the IHG x PayPal page still up and running. If anyone has any luck, do post. Thanks!

  • Evie says:

    I cannot access this offer
    Or
    The railcard discount
Does someone have the weblink page

    • Newburyrich says:

Loyalty lobby shared the rail card rate so imagine that is taking a battering as well

  • Timothy Firmager says:

Also struggling to make this work through the link – I have tried numerous hotels in the UK and US for at least 2 nights including at least one night on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and more than 7 days in advance and the rate is not coming up.

  • Phil G says:

There’s a Railcard version of this too.

    • LittleNick says:

      Yes that’s 20%

    • AndrewT says:

The Railcard rate isn’t really comparable. 20% not 25%, does not require two nights but does require a Thu – Sun, requires a deposit / three day cancellation, etc.

But of course it does actually work, unlike this one (at present anyway).

      • AndrewT says:

Edit – sorry just re-read and realised the Paypal rate does require Thu – Sun as well.

      • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

I find the deposit for RC rates isn’t usually taken until the cancellation period ends and even then it’s for one night not the whole stay.

Though there are always exceptions to this depending on the hotel.
