Global Hotel Alliance, which operates the loyalty scheme for 45 hotel brands including Kempinski, Anantara and NH, has added a new brand – Rotana.

Rotana operates 80 hotels across the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and Turkey.

Whilst there are no UK hotels today, it will open Centro Coombe Road in Kingston upon Thames during 2025. This will be a 31-key aparthotel.

Rotana joins Global Hotel Alliance

All five Rotana brands – Rotana Hotels & Resorts, Rayhaan Hotels & Resorts by Rotana, Centro by Rotana, Arjaan Hotel Apartments by Rotana, and Edge by Rotana – will join GHA within the next 12 months.

GHA DISCOVERY will cover almost 950 hotels in 100 countries following the Rotana integration and has now topped 100 million members.

If you happen to be part of the existing Rotana Rewards programme, it will become Rotana DISCOVERY in due course. Your existing rewards balance will become DISCOVERY Dollars.

Philip Barnes, CEO of Rotana, said:

“At Rotana, we are committed to delivering exceptional hospitality experiences, and being part of GHA enables us to extend this promise to a global audience. GHA and Rotana share the same values – offering a guest-centric approach that gives travellers choice, flexibility, and meaningful rewards. With GHA DISCOVERY, we are enhancing the benefits available to our loyal guests while expanding our reach through a world-class alliance of independent hotel brands.”

We wrote an introduction to the GHA DISCOVERY loyalty scheme here. Whilst it is a cashback-based loyalty scheme, we recommend it for three reasons:

  • you can get top tier elite status with GHA by staying at just three hotels in a calendar year, as long as each is with a different brand
  • whilst the loyalty scheme is cashback based, regular bonus promotions mean that you can earn large sums – a Titanium member (top tier, can be done in three stays) gets 7% back, for example, but a triple points promotion lifts that to a whopping 21%

I remember staying at the Towers Rotana at the start of that millennium, before Dubai became popular.
Amazing how many tall buildings have subsequently gone up on Sheikh Zahid Road.

      Yes!

Ages ago I was at a Hilton on Jumeirah, it seemed like the tallest thing in the area, which was still mostly undeveloped, though further up the beach the Burj Al Arab had just opened. When the fog rolled in I actually got a bit lost in the sands while going for a walk before breakfast.

First time to Dubai for the rugby 7’s in 2000 to the Hilton Jumeirah. Only 4 hotels there. Hilton, Sheraton, Oasis beach and one other.
The marina was sand and putting in the foundations for the JBR.

          Me too.
Stayed at Sheraton. JBR and marina was a construction site and Palm just rock foundations.
I think sea facing L to R it was,Sheraton, Hilton, Le Meridian x 2, One and Only and then Jumeirah Beach hotel.
Everything else was just construction dust

Borough of Kingston upon Thames perhaps, but more New Malden where there is a large Korean population and where the SL7 express bus to LHR stops.
