Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Which 37 airlines can you earn Avios on?

Today I want to look at which airlines you can earn Avios from.

You know about British Airways, of course.  But there are actually 37 airlines which let you earn Avios for some or all of their flights.

With Garuda Indonesia becoming an Avios partner today (story to follow!) and Scottish carrier Loganair adopting Avios as its loyalty currency next week, I thought it was worth updating this article.

Which airlines can you earn Avios on?

The list will change again when Oman Air joins oneworld, which we expect to happen around June 2025. Until then, you can only earn Avios via Qatar Airways Privilege Club on the route between Doha and Muscat.

Scandinavian regional carrier Braathens has been removed from this list. The partnership with Finnair ended in December 2024.

Which airlines let you earn Avios?

The list below is alphabetical. In brackets, I have added the programmes which let you earn Avios from that airline:

  • BA for British Airways Club
  • IB for Club Iberia Plus
  • AC for AerClub
  • VC for Vueling Club
  • QR for Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • AY for Finnair Plus
  • LO for Loganair

Note that in some cases only certain ticket types will earn. Heavily discounted Aer Lingus tickets do not earn Avios in British Airways Club, for example. You need to credit such flights to an Aer Lingus AerClub account and then transfer the Avios to your BA account.

Here we go:

Aer Lingus (AC, BA)

Air Nostrum / Iberia Regional (AY, IB, BA)

Airlink (QR)

Alaska Airlines (AY, BA, IB, QR)

American Airlines (AC, AY, BA, IB, QR)

  • Lumma says:

Are you sure about LATAM? Wheretocredit.com doesn’t list Finnair or Qatar as earning partners (it does list Royal Jordanian and i got nothing on a premium economy ticket Colombian domestic flight last year)

  • Nico says:

Still waiting for avios from Latam more than 6 months later with BA. On the other hand, I was impressed how quickly united credited to Aer Lingus.

    • Occasional Ranter says:

Waiting over a year for BA to credit Latam SYD-AKL. On the bright side, no-one was hospitalised on my flight by incompetence in the cockpit…

  • Nigierian Prince says:

I got a few China southern flights in early Jan, I out down my BA number in the ticket and the boarding pass shows my ba status, but I never received any avois in my account. Filed missing avois claim with ba a few weeks ago so far nothing. China southern to east asia pricing is very competitive though, return business often £15xx, in a modern A350 1-2-1 seat, vs BA often £4000 with embarrassing backward seat looking at stranger.

  • PeterK says:

Loganair’s 2-letter IATA code is LM, LO is LOT Polish Airlines.

  • Bluekjp says:

United Airlines (AC). According to your system here, this implies that I can input an Aerclub or Vueling Club number to earn avios. That’s not right is it?

    • David says:

      Yes it is

    • Rob says:

Only AerClub. That’s not clear I agree.

      • ChrisBCN says:

Yes you have somewhat confused things by combining Aer Lingus and Vueling under the same code, when they are not the same, and they have never quite worked as you think (due to the historic same background platform).

  • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

@Rob a suggestion if I may but this would really be better presented as a table rather than a list with big green ✅ where it applies and blank where it doesn’t.

  • Julian says:

There’s always the Qantas Emirates codeshare which I’ve known to have worked before!

  • pete says:

I have Virgin Australia business class flights coming up but the drop down on their manage booking page doesn’t include BA as a frequent flyer option. Do I need to join the Virgin australia programme then transfer to BA>

    • Rob says:

The article doesn’t say you can credit Virgin Australia to BA, only Qatar.

    • memesweeper says:

You need to be a Qatar member and then transfer to BA

    • daveinitalia says:

The correct procedure is to credit to Virgin Australia and then email Richard Branson asking for the points to be moved to BA
