Marriott Bonvoy has launched its first promotion for 2025.

You can register here.

It is particularly attractive because you will earn double elite night credits on qualifying stays, as well as 1,000 bonus points per night.

(If this sounds familiar, it’s because it ran the same offer at the same time last year. But it’s a good one, so we’re OK with that!)

Marriott Bonvoy Spring 2025 promotion

What is the new Marriott Bonvoy promotion?

This is how it works in a nutshell:

  • the promotion runs from 11th February to 28th April
  • registration closes on 14th April
  • you receive 1,000 bonus points per night and double elite night credits
  • there is no minimum stay required
  • existing bookings are OK
  • reward nights do NOT count for double elite night credits or bonus points – this includes ‘cash and points’ bookings
  • nights at BVLGARI, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Marriott Executive Apartments do NOT count for double elite night credits or bonus points
  • however, unlike last year, nights at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy do count although it may take up to six weeks for the bonus element to post

What sort of return do I get on my spending?

The standard earning rate in Marriott Bonvoy is 10 points per $1 spent, excluding tax. (Some limited service brands earn at half this rate, including the new Four Points Flex.)

Converted into £, adding in 1,000 bonus points and assuming a Bonvoy point is worth 0.5p (as we do), your return would be:

  • 16.2% on a £50 night before taxes
  • 11.2% on a £100 night before taxes
  • 9.5% on a £150 night before taxes

If you have Marriott Bonvoy status, your return will be even higher due to your 10% to 75% base points bonus.

The real value may be in the double elite night credits

For a lot of Marriott Bonvoy members, the real focus will be on the double elite night credits.

The Marriott Bonvoy status levels are:

  • Silver Elite – requires 10 nights. Benefit is a 10% bonus on base points and priority late checkout (based on availability)
  • Gold Elite – requires 25 nights. Benefits are a 25% bonus on base points, room upgrade, high-speed internet, 2pm late check-out (based on availability, not at resorts and conference hotels) and welcome gift.
  • Platinum Elite– requires 50 nights. Benefits are a 50% bonus on base points, room upgrade to best available room or suite, high-speed internet, lounge access (or breakfast if the lounge is closed), guaranteed late check-out until 4pm (not at resorts) as well as an annual ‘choice benefit’ from five options including 5 elite night credits or 5 Nightly Upgrade Awards and welcome gift.
  • Titanium Elite – requires 75 nights. Benefits are a 75% bonus on base points, an annual ‘choice benefit’ from six options as well as all the benefits enjoyed by Platinum.
  • Ambassador Elite – requires 100 nights and $23,000 of annual spending. Benefits include all those of Titanium Elite (there is no increase in points bonus) as well as a 24/7 personal assistant service, the ability to choose the exact 24 hours of your stay.

The full table of elite benefits is here.

Platinum Elite is the sweet spot

For most people, Platinum Elite is the sweet spot.

It triggers the guaranteed 4pm check-out (at most hotels), the annual choice benefit (which most people take as 5 Nightly Upgrade Awards), a decent upgrade and lounge access / free breakfast.

Whilst 50 nights is a lot, if you could put a number of stays towards Marriott Bonvoy by 28th April you could make a dint in that number with double elite night credits.

Don’t forget to get the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card if you are pushing for status

If you are going for Marriott Bonvoy elite status, you’d be crazy not to apply for the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card.

The card comes with 15 elite night credits, for each and every year that you hold it. This means that Platinum Elite status only requires 35 nights per year, and if you did them all during this ‘double elite nights’ promotion you could do it in 18 nights.

Our full review of the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card is here. You can apply for the card here.

Marriott Bonvoy double elite nights promotion

It may even be worth a mattress run

With 1,000 bonus points per night, on top of your standard base points, there may even be some merit in a few mattress run nights if you have a cheap Courtyard or Moxy hotel near you. Check in, ruffle the sheets and walk straight out.

If you have the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card, you’d also be earning 6 points per £1 on your Marriott hotel spending.

The addition of Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy this year adds an extra twist to the mattress run calculations if you can find a low cost property near you.

IMPORTANT: Remember that the new Four Points Flex brand only earns one elite night for every two nights you stay. Avoid Four Points Flex if you planning a mattress run, or indeed are booking any stay primarily to earn double elite night credits.

The only snag is that we are still very early in the year. These sort of offers work best in Q4 when you have a clear view of how many nights you need to retain status before 31st December.

Conclusion

This is not a hugely generous promotion for earning bonus points, unless the bulk of your stays are at lower end properties, but it IS very generous if you are looking to earn or renew Marriott Bonvoy elite status.

I recommend you click here to register now in case you forget – especially as Marriott is being naughty by closing registration two weeks early on 14th April.

  • MT says:

Just what we need another promo that hands out status even easier and swells the number of Elites!

While I still stay at Marriott, the fact there are so many Elites and many hotels now really cannot offer what the status suggests you should get, is a major reason I moved a good percentage of my stays away in the last couple of years. Just dilutes the program to far in my opinion.

    • Dominic says:

Honestly depends where you are in the world. I have no issues in the Middle East or Asia having benefits recognized – they typically go above and beyond the minimum, in my experience.

I’d also say at Plat level, you probably aren’t swelling all that much – if you do 25 nights, odds are you stay very regularly, so it wouldn’t surprise me if many of those getting 25 are on their way to 50 (particularly if they have the amex)

    • n1368585 says:

Try being Hilton Diamond (or Gold after Hilton’s latest debit card offerings).
      Not much better over here.

  • Matt says:

Im currently platinum and it says im not eligble to register….but I had the same status and could take part last year….anyone have any ideas ?

    • Matt says:

for anyone with the same issue…i just emailed Marriot directly and they manually enrolled me within an hour of sending the email! great service.

      • John R says:

What email address did you use?

      • Sam says:

Can you see that you’re registered in the app? When I called them, they told me they have registered me but it’s still showing up empty on the app

    • Rob says:

      Message them.

  • Niall says:

I respectfully disagree with the description of the Platinum upgrade benefit as ‘a decent upgrade’. It’s been discussed many times here and elsewhere that there are simply too many Marriott elites, especially from the US where Platinum status can be gained from a credit card. Many Marriott hotels are simply not respecting providing full upgrade benefits or late check out.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Where are you staying? Is it all US stays

I normally always get upgraded in some way 45 actual nights last year and was never refused late check out all U.K. and Europe stats.

    • Yorkie Aid says:

Certainly not my experience. I have been Titanium for the last two years largely due to this particular offer running and I have found recognition and benefits excellent. Stays throughout South America, Europe and UK.

      • meta says:

I find all of Europe and UK really weak on providing benefits and I have been Titanium and Platinum now staying 35+ nights even without the promo. Late checkout is more often than not denying and then having to argue. Hence why I am not staying in Marriott hotels much in Europe, UK. If I do, I check at the time of booking what the benefits the hotel will actually honour.

In Asia I do get most benefits, but increasingly in Japan it’s impossible to get an upgrade and to be honest Japanese Marriott hotels seemed to have gone downhill with service. This is also possibly also down to overtourism.

The best treatment is generally in South America, where I get top suites including sometimes presidential suites even as a Platinum.

So I tend to disagree it provides decent benefits. In any case benefits are only provided if you do your own research and that should be a caveat to any such sweep statements.

        • Pangolin says:

That’s odd. I’ve been 50/50 Platinum/Titanium since 2017, most of my stays are in Europe and I’ve never once been denied a late checkout.
One thing is that I don’t ask for late checkout, I simply tell them to put 4pm checkout on the cards at the front desk. I’ve never stayed at a resort hotel.

Japan is known to be an outlier when it comes to Asia in terms of upgrades. Everywhere else it’s pretty much rich pickings (only exception might be something like Chinese New Year).

Interesting to hear about South America anyway!

    • Pangolin says:

Then go to places which aren’t dominated by US travellers holding the right credit cards.

If you’re not getting decent upgrades as Plat in Asia or EMEA then you’re doing something wrong.

    • Rob says:

Late check-out is not a discussion point. It’s guaranteed, except at resorts.

If you check in to St Regis New York then, yes, half the guests will be Plat or above – although I’ve always good upgrades there to be fair. Check into a Delta country club resort in the middle of Leicestershire somewhere and they’ll probably roll out the red carpet for a Plat.

      • meta says:

You contradict your own review of St Regis New York where you had to choose between top suite upgrade or late check out.

        • TGLoyalty says:

What do you expect you can’t have everything. If the suite is booked by a paying customer who has told them they are arriving at x time prior to 4pm they cant offer you it

Where are you staying that you are fighting for 4pm I’ve literally probably been denied less than a handful of times in about 7 years as Plat/Titanium and then its either been 2/3pm which they extended to 4pm anyway on the day or they offered to provide another non-suite room instead (even in this case they ended up allowing 4pm on the morning)

        • Rob says:

But that’s an improvement on the usual situation where a Platinum / Titanium won’t be upgraded if the suite has been sold for the following day.

What would you prefer? No upgrade or being given the option to take one if you don’t stay late.

      • C says:

Fact Checker: There no Delta “country club resorts” in Leicestershire! 🙂

    • Niall says:

@TGLoyalty – Rarely US stays. This has/is always said that of course treatment is much better in Asia and Europe, but the number of elites in Marriott has got so out of hand now and really nothing is done by Marriott to make hotels fulfil their obligations under Bonvoy.

@Yorkie Aid – I actually agree that titanium is much better! For a status which on paper offers little more, I have found it to be better with Titanium but still nothing compared to Hyatt Globalist. My comment was based on the article saying ‘decent upgrade’ for Platinum which I just don’t think should be said without some kind of caveat.

@Rob it is all well and good to say late check out is not a discussion point as it’s guaranteed for Platinum and above but there is plenty of mentions of it not being honoured and Marriott do not step in and help. With Hyatt on the other hand in rare reports of benefits not being honoured, calling the concierge and asking them to speak to the hotel seems to do the trick.

I have been Platinum or Titanium for a number of years based on stays. It’s simple to list the hotels in the last year where I’ve had either no upgrade or a super minor one when it looked like there were many better rooms (I appreciate online inventory might not always be accurate), because that’s almost all my stays with Marriott last year. Denied late check out completely last year – Imperial Riding School. Denied it initially and had to push – Protea Fire & Ice Cape Town.

  • Will says:

I’ve been very well received as titanium across Europe and Middle East.
SNA’s have become a lot less reliable recently though in my experience.

    • Yorkie Aid says:

I agree, after many attempts I failed to use my SNAs last year. That was the only weak spot for me.

  • Elt says:

Would this still work if stays booked via Emyr?

  • Odd says:

I don’t understand the weird dates on this. Why not make it open to stays from today, the promo was announced? I’d have stayed at a Mariott in a heartbeat over the next 3 days if this promo was actually ‘from now until April 28’ like the opening banner declares.

    • Rob says:

If they’d done that, surely others would be complaining that they’d have moved across stays this week but can’t because they need advanced notice!

  • Lee says:

I believe that Hilton and Hyatt are trying harder, rather better than Marriott nowadays.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Hilton really lacks top end hotels and when they attract a few they leave as quickly as they joined.

  • dan_a_man says:

I am Titanium Elite and not eligible, tried various ways. Direct on the site, in app, this link above. An ambassador earlier in the comments had the same issue. Surely they didnt exclude people above Gold?
