REGISTER NOW: Hilton launches its new bonus points promotion for January to April stays

Hilton Honors has just launched its new winter / spring promotion which is now open for registration – click here.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

  • you will earn double Hilton Honors base points for every stay completed between 1st January and 30th April
  • that’s it!
Hilton double points

There is NO ‘starting with your second stay’ rule.  You get double points from your first stay during the promotional period.

The bonus will trigger on reward stays for ‘in hotel’ spending.

For clarity, the bonus points do not count towards status – only your standard base points.

What is your return here?

For most brands, you will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points plus any status bonus.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your pre-tax spending here.  20 points per $1 is an 8% rebate and that is before you add in any status bonus. A Diamond would be getting 12% back.

There is no small print

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

  • there is no minimum stay requirement
  • existing bookings still count
  • there is no cap on the bonus points you can earn
  • all Hilton brands (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part

Conclusion

Hilton’s new ‘double base points’ is a decent offer, especially for people doing longer, more expensive stays.

You should make sure you register if you have any Hilton stays coming up in the next four months.

Even without Hilton Honors status, you will be earning 20 points (which I value at 6.6p) per $1.  This is an 8% rebate on your spending.  Anyone with Hilton status will do even better.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 30th April.

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

  • Ian says:

But very weak if on a reward stay unless you spend at the hotel.

    The current offer is better.

    • Kowalski says:

I disagree, this is vastly better.

      • Ian says:

How is it better on reward stays?

        • Kowalski says:

Well, it would depend how long the stay is and if you’re spending at the hotel restaurant/spa etc.

Yes I get your point and misread your original message. I meant that overall I feel this is vastly better. It actually encourages me to move high ticket stays to Hilton.

  • josh says:

frankly i have been constantly disappointed at Hilton hotels in europe and asia with Diamond. Exec lounges have gone down significantly in quality, tough to get suite upgrade, hotels are often antiquated. So I dont care how many extra few pints they give me – i stay Hyatt and marriott

    • Dan says:

I agree, mostly, although the addition of SLH is a win for me (we’ve been able to spend our points on some very nice properties – far nicer than your average Hilton) and free breakfast combined with their coverage in major cities and larger towns still means Diamond still holds some value for me. Perhaps the question is how much value compared to Gold which gives broadly similar benefits with far fewer stays/nights required.

    • RussellH says:

Hyatt + Marriott may well be better, but completely irrelevant if they do not have a hotel where I want one – which is most of the time.

      • Niall says:

Really? This is a frequent complaint for Hyatt sure, but Marriott is bigger than Hilton. I guess you’re quite unlucky to stay in spots with Hilton’s but no Marriott brand. Not that I advise using Marriott where benefits just aren’t given by hotels who seem to get away with it as Marriott have too many with status. There seem to be too many who search only for Marriott too resulting in some places where Marriott are just overpriced.

    • dundj says:

All depends on which hotels you are staying in. I’ve had many stays during and post Covid which have been as good as pre-Covid, including the lounge offer.

    • Skywalker says:

“So I dont care how many extra few pints they give me – i stay Hyatt and marriott”

@Josh – if Hilton were giving out extra pints instead of points, I’d definitely choose them over Hyatt or Marriott!

  • Ryan says:

Need to spend around £200 per night for it to better than current campaign.

    Poor in my opinion.

    • Kowalski says:

Not per night. Per stay. The current promotion is 2500 points per stay.

      • Ryan says:

So a one night stay at £200 will be the same as the current promotion.

        That’s my point.

As Rob says, longer more expensive stays benefit.

        • Rob says:

Has always been thus … some promos benefit short cheap stays, some promo benefit large pricey stays.

Anyone doing a week at Conrad Maldives won’t have been too happy with the flat 2,500 points offered at the moment ….

          • Ryan says:

            Agreed Rob.

Whereas a one stay at Newcastle airport is more than worthwhile.

  • krys_k says:

I much prefer the double nights promos (currently running via Hilton business; or Marriott that have tended to run in Q1 and 2. Makes hitting Diamond and Titanium easy. And due to lots of SEA travel great upgrades and lounges.

  • Kristina says:

Yay! Just in time for my Miami stay starting on the 1st exactly. Thanks so much, registered!

  • Yas says:

Will this cover any stays already booked within the promotion period. Thanks

  • Billy says:

So Hilton already offer a rate called 2 x Points, does this mean you’d get 4 x points on a booking at that rate?

  • BlueStar says:

I’ve got 11 nights booked for Q1 next year, so great news, even better as 2 of the stay’s are on pre-pay rates, I’ve used x2 of the Amex £50 statement credit offers , so £100 off the bill and I’ll get the double points at the full rate 🙂
