Get £50 cashback on £150 spend with Minor Hotels and American Express

American Express has launched a cashback deal with Minor Hotels. It is a global deal which makes it more interesting than most Europe-focussed Amex cashback deals, although it only runs until the end of the month.

Minor Hotels covers brands such as Anantara, NH, nhow, Avani and Tivoli.

It’s only the second time that we’ve seen a broader Minor Hotels offer with American Express instead of one which just looks at NH and nhow, the two main European chains.

Minor Hotels American Express cashback offer

Minor is offering £50 cashback when you spend £150 before 31st December. Cumulative spending is OK.

It is important to note that American Express has not tagged this offer correctly. If you filter your Amex Offers list by ‘Travel’, it will not – at least for me – bring up this deal. You need to scroll through your entire list of offers.

The list of participating hotels is here.

This is a global list, not just Europe. Just looking at non-European countries, you’ve got Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Haiti, Mexico, United States (x1 hotel in New York) and Uruguay.

Most (all?) of these hotels are part of Global Hotel Alliance. You can learn about how GHA works, and its generous GHA DISCOVERY loyalty scheme, in this article.

For stays by the end of the year, GHA continues to offer $15 of bonus DISCOVERY Dollars, its loyalty currency, per stay if you book via the GHA app.

Usual question – will the prepaid booking trigger this offer?

    • Rob says:

No experience with Minor, whether they handle pre-bookings via a central office (bad) or direct at hotel (good). I suspect the latter but you really need someone who did it last time to confirm.

      • philuk says:

        Thank you

      • RussellH says:

I used this offer on my Amex Rewards card in April, for a stay in June. I did not get the £50 rebate automatically, but Cust Service paid it without any quibble.
Currently have cancellable bookings in Feb, and now wondering whether to rebook. Offer this time on BA Amex.

  • PM says:

I tried to use it with NH 2 years ago, the offer did not trigger, chat confirmed it would but I need to wait 90 days, ultimately had to raise the complaint and was told I did not meet the conditions as booked a pre-paid rate (even though the hotel scanned my card upon check in).

  • Trevor says:

Pleased to see this return. Used it twice before for NH hotels in Germany – Nuremberg and Hamburg. Both times I received the Amex credit without any issues.

  • Hugo says:

Booked nh Vienna airport – flexible rate but emailed hotel to charge – triggered the £50 very quickly.

  • Stan says:

Strange cannot find this on either my gold or platinum card offers!

  • Throwawayname says:

Can anyone confirm that AMEX applies the dólar turístico in Argentina? I’ve read some conflicting stuff, if it does then my upcoming stay will come out to less than £35 per night!
