There is good news for Avios, Virgin Flying Club, Asia Miles, Emirates Skywards, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Aegean Miles+Bonus, Royal Brunei Royal Skies and Lufthansa Miles & More members.

Heathrow Rewards has brought back its annual bonus promotion on electronics, watches and jewellery, keen to tap into the Christmas rush.

Heathrow Rewards gives you 1 point for every £1 spent in Heathrow (1 per £10 on foreign exchange) or on Heathrow Express tickets (online bookings only).

Once you’ve earned 250 points you can exchange them for miles or shopping vouchers.  If you’re not a member of the scheme yet, you can find out how Heathrow Rewards works in this article.

This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a large pile of miles.  InMotion, which replaced Dixons Travel, is included so this is a good chance to cash in on electronics, especially headphones.

Remember that you can convert Heathrow Rewards points into:

  • Avios (British Airways or Aer Lingus)
  • Virgin Points
  • Aegean Miles+Bonus
  • Asia Miles
  • Emirates Skywards
  • Lufthansa Miles & More
  • Royal Brunei Royal Skies
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

….. as well as into Heathrow shopping, parking or rail vouchers.

What are the 2024 Heathrow Rewards Christmas shopping deals?

Here are the deals for 2024:

  • 10,000 extra points when you spend £4,000 or more at Bulgari, Cartier, InMotion, Tiffany & Co and Watches of Switzerland
  • 4,000 extra points when you spend £500 – £3,999 at InMotion
  • 500 extra points when you spend £250 – £499 at InMotion

The offer runs until 10th January 2025.  No registration is required.

Full details are available on the Heathrow website here.

Do we know how quick the bonus points drop into our Heathrow rewards account post purchase?

    • Barrel for Scraping says:

The bonus points tend to appear as soon as the base points post. How quick the base points post tend to depend on how they retailer handles Heathrow Rewards transactions. Those retailers that don’t have it integrated into their tills and add the transactions using a separate tablet post within hours. Retailers that are integrated tend to take a few days. A small number of places don’t seem to work at all (Boots being one that’s not posted automatically when I’ve tried).

Worst case scenario is 30 days. If your points don’t post within 30 days you can make a claim on the Heathrow Rewards website. In my experience missing points claims are processed within the same day but can take up to 3 days to be processed

Last week at LHR M&S T5 Arrivals told me they weren’t linked to HR.

        • daveinitalia says:

They’re lying (or more likely misinformed). They have a tablet they use to scan your reward card and enter the points. Keep your receipt and claim later making sure you point out to Heathrow you were told they’re not accepting Heathrow Rewards.

M&S in T5 is where I earn the vast majority of Heathrow Rewards points.

I’m allergic to buying stuff at airports because so much of it is over-priced. Even with a points bonus offer sprinkled on top.

eg Sennheiser HD 450BT Wireless Headphones

    InMotion £129
Amazon UK £99, as it turned out reduced to £79 today

Better to just buy the Avios you need unless someone else is paying?

    • Guillaume says:

Agreed on the principle. However one thing I find particularly cheap in UK Airports Duty Free is alcohol. E.g. Absolut Vodka is sold £12 (with the 20% discount of Club Avolta). That’s unbeatable.

    • Barrel for Scraping says:

Problem is the government doesn’t allow retailers to sell tax free any more (except for cigarettes and alcohol) so InMotion is meant to be trading on convenience rather than price on things like headphones. In the Dixons Travel days they could sell tax free to places outside the EU so there often was a saving.

To put it simply blame Boris

  • Cinar says:

Can’t see Aegean there? Is it temporary or permanently removed?

    • Rob says:

Can’t see it where? Was still on the HR website last night.

      • Cinar says:

Under the Transfer menu, I can see all loyalty schemes apart from Aegean. Aegean was the airline I used to transfer points, but no mention of it anywhere now. Is there a direct link to Aegean transfer page?

    • Barrel for Scraping says:

If you’ve already added it then it won’t appear in the drop down list

  • Paul says:

Seriously, buying anything at Heathrow is surely reserved for those with mug tattooed across their foreheads. Prices are inflated often seriously inflated with booze generally cheaper in Tesco and Waitrose.
As for anything else well if you are travelling to the EU or anywhere with tax free shopping that is where you should buy!

  • Soho Smoked Salmon says:

I always feel these promotions are intended for Gulf state royalty rather than mere mortals: who else would be dropping £4k on an impulse jewelry purchase on the way to the gate before your next flight?

    • Rob says:

When you didn’t pay 20% VAT if you bought in duty free, quite a lot of people. Today, fewer.

  • smartboyalec says:

With duty free scrapped, buying at the airport is really not worth it. Those were the days, oh well !
