YOTEL London Shoreditch becomes a Four Points Flex hotel

Marriott’s new Four Points Flex brand has picked up its second London signing.

YOTEL London Shoreditch is leaving the chain – despite still being available on the YOTEL website – and switching to Four Points Flex.

The Marriott website – click here – says that it will open in December 2024, although the YOTEL site still lets you book into 2025.

The handful of Four Points Flex hotels already signed to the new chain have very small rooms, so a YOTEL conversion fits right in.

‘Queen’ rooms at YOTEL London Shoreditch are ‘9-15 sq m’ – it doesn’t say how small the tinier ‘Compact Queen’ rooms are. Some rooms are windowless, with some of those being underground.

Four Points Flex is not great in terms of Bonvoy rewards:

  • you only get one elite night credit for every TWO nights you stay, so a one night stay gets you nothing
  • you only earn 5 Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 compared to the usual rate of 10 per $1

The hotel is located on Cambridge Heath Road. According to the YOTEL website:

Surrounded by East London’s eclectic bars and restaurants, YOTEL London Shoreditch is among the best East London hotels for a modern stay in the heart of one of London’s most lively neighbourhoods. The hotel’s location is ideal for those seeking hotels in Bethnal Green: perfect for exploring Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Old Spitalfields Market. While at the hotel, try Revolve, known for its modern menu of food, drink and stylish design, or you can explore the fashion exhibitions at the Young V&A museum just next door. Near to major public transport routes, the hotel is also great for discovering other parts of London.

The hotel opened as a YOTEL in February 2022. It was already a conversion at that point – when it opened as a new-build in 2018 it was called the East London Hotel.

At the time, the hotel owners said:

“We are excited to be working with YOTEL as franchisor to our hotel and are looking forward to a successful and long-term partnership”

I assume that 2.5 years is not what they meant by ‘long-term’.

  • Lumma says:

Calling it “Shoreditch” is a bit of a stretch. At least Marriott seem to have named it “Shoreditch East”.

What we talking less than 20 mins walk or 5-10 mins if you take a taxi or bus or tube or overground?

It’s close enough hardly like pretending Stansted is London.

      • Lumma says:

It’s the same as a hotel in Battersea saying it’s in Chelsea. I’m not even saying it’s a bad location. Next to the tube, there’s a few interesting bars and restaurants in the arches next to it, handy for Hackney too. It’s just not near enough to call itself Shoreditch

  • Tom says:

This hotel is a mixed bag. The above ground rooms with windows are actually really lovely and good value – given it is next door to the Bethnal Green Central Line station. The rooms below ground without a window are inhumane. I stayed in one once to find the air con not working – for some reason it could.only be centrally controlled from reception and we spent literally hours trying to get any vaguely cold air into the sweat box.

  • Alex G says:

    Sounds horrendous

  • Michele says:

Hi, I have a reservation with Yotel London Shoreditch from 5th to 11th December 2024, is it valid with Marriott?

    • Rob says:

Yes, it will carry over. They really should have contacted you! Reflags are only an issue with reward bookings but Yotel doesn’t do those anyway.
