I have 2 nights booked at the CP DUB after November 22nd and found they had gone down by 1k points and £6 respectively so it may also pay to look slightly further ahead!

    • Ziggy says:

You can check in as late as the 22nd and stay for up to 3 nights (so checking out on the 25th) but you can’t check in past the 22nd.

      • NorthernLass says:

Checking in after the 22nd! But it may have been a coincidence; I’ve had a few bookings recently where the price has dropped by 1k points about 3-4 weeks out, it all adds up!

These 15% off prices are a nonsense with IHG dynamic pricing. Yes: great if you need to book in the next few days, or if you find a gem that happens to have an extra 15% off as a bonus, but the days of fixed price redemptions are over, and these 15% off prices are not a reason to book. I’d wager if you booked a few weeks out (without the 15% off), in a large number of hotels you’d get about 25% less than the points price today, due to many hotels keeping cash rates higher than they typically did before COVID (until about a week out – when if undersubscribed the cash rates drop significantly). The IHG dynamic pricing taps into this with increases and decreases but it’s more like options pricing as closer to the date a specific rate can have a points premium of 5k points on it. Even adjacent nights a few weeks ahead at the same price at a hotel can have a points difference of 3-4k. I’ll hit 75 nights this year at IHG – and only on two occasions have I managed to get better than 3.5p this year. I’m shifting my points valuation to 2.5p so I can shift my load of IHG points in 2025. Cash is king with IHG at the moment.

Yesterday, I booked the “last room” at the IC at JNB airport. Today there is 1 room available again, but it’s a twin, rather than the booked king. Twist or stick……..

    • Reney says:

how much points do you save and how big a problem if you don’t get a King bed?

  • Marie says:

Well I actually have 3 hotels booked within the offer period and I’m a diamond elite status.
And all my hotels have actually increased in price.
And yes I was logged in to my account.

  • VickyTM says:

I cold only access the discount on my mobile – my desktop didn’t show it

  • Scott says:

The times I would make use of this are a week or so after the promo finishes unfortunately.
