IHG One Rewards offering Hertz President’s Circle to Diamond Elite members

I’m not sure when this went live, but IHG One Rewards – the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc loyalty scheme – is offering Hertz President’s Circle status to Diamond Elite members.

This usually requires 15 rentals or $3,000 of Hertz spend in a calendar year.

HfP is generally sceptical of car hire loyalty programmes, but I have Hertz President’s Circle status – I genuinely can’t remember how! – and some elements are impressive.

In Boston last year, I was able to literally pick my car. I was sent to a numbered area of the parking lot and told to take any car I wanted. It was great in terms of being able to get a vehicle which met our requirements for luggage space, legroom in the back for our tall kids and our confidence of being able to park it!

Whenever we rent in Hamburg my name is on a screen above the Hertz counters (which my kids find very funny) and I am told to head straight to the car park where an attendant gives me my keys.

President’s Circle also gives guaranteed upgrades, letting you rent a smaller and cheaper car than you actually want.
