Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn bonus Heathrow Rewards points on fashion purchases

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Heathrow Rewards is offering up to 5,000 bonus points when you buy clothing or luxury goods at the airport by 31st October.

Heathrow Rewards gives you 1 point for every £1 spent in Heathrow (1 per £10 on foreign exchange) or on Heathrow Express tickets (online bookings only).

Once you’ve earned 250 points you can exchange them for airline miles, including Avios and Virgin Points, or shopping vouchers.

If you’re not a member of the scheme yet, you can find out how Heathrow Rewards works in this article.

Remember that Heathrow Rewards points convert 1 : 1 into Avios, Virgin Points, KrisFlyer, Asia Miles, Emirates Skywards and various other programmes, as well as 1 : 1p of Heathrow shopping vouchers.

Pre-pandemic, regular transfer bonuses could add 50% – 100% to these numbers but we haven’t seen one of those since covid.

This offer is less generous than we have seen in previous years where you would get a large flat bonus for hitting a spend target. For 2024:

  • Spend £80 or more and get double points at Accessorize and Superdry

  • Spend £300 or more and get double points at Aspinal of London, Boggi Milano, BOSS, Case, JD Sports, Kurt Geiger, Lacoste, Reiss and Sunglass Hut

  • Spend £800 or more and get double points at Harrods (fashion), Mulberry, Orlebar Brown, Paul Smith and Smythson
  • Spend £1,000 or more and get double points at Burberry, Fendi, Moncler and Valentino
  • Spend £2,000 or more and get double points at Bottega Veneta, Dior, Gucci, Loewe, Prada, Tiffany & Co. and Yves Saint Laurent
  • Spend £5,000 or more and get 5,000 bonus points at Bulgari, Chanel, Cartier, Hermes, Hublot and Watches of Switzerland

No registration is required for these offers. You are capped at 5,000 bonus points.

Purchases made at World Duty Free will not count towards this offer even if their products are from the participating brands (eg you bought £300 of BOSS cosmetics).

IHG have just launched another 100% buu points sale.

  • Patrick says:

On Accor, the timing is uncanny, as they announced the closure of the french cards for November 30th…

  • LittleNick says:

“The drop in the exchange rate recently“ – Probably needs updating, GBPUSD has strengthened over the last year unless you’re talking more longer term which would not be very recent

    • Rob says:

In my mind, £1 is $1.65 which it was for the bulk of my adult life!

      • LittleNick says:

Fair enough but perhaps you should add in years to be in recent years rather than recent

      • Alex G says:

You youngsters. My frame of reference is $2.30, which is what it was when I first visited (very affordable) Hawaii in 1980! My mum always celebrated as the £ weakened though, as my dad was paid in USD.

Bought a sizeable amount of HH not so long ago to redeem 5 nights for 4 at Hilton Dalaman during the first week of school holidays next year. It’s my first year of having to navigate the peak holiday season challenge with my son just starting reception. As a first attempt I think I’ve managed to get decent value with BA RFS flights and a Hilton 5 for 5 redemption.

    • Fazzy Bear says:

How many points did it cost? Price goes up considerably when you increase the occupants from 3 to 4.

      • BBbetter says:

Email the hotel and ask if they can accommodate an additional child. There are genuine reasons why they would not. Book two rooms if you dont want to go through the hassle.

      • Brian says:

320,000 points (4 * 80,000) for a Standard King River Room for 2 Adults and a 5 year old. I believe there are additional charges for older children. Trying to redeem for a party of 4 might result in being limited to a Family room.

    • John says:

Enjoy the trip! It’s a great place and a worthwhile usage of points (as I’m sure you already know from experience).

  • BigDave says:

    On Accor,
nice to see the discounted rate has free cancellation also, I have just rebooked an existing booking for October and saved £36, thanks!

  • Guernsey Globetrotter says:

When buying Hilton points you can get them to price in US Dollars by changing your account address to the US. The 240k+240k deal then prices at USD 2,400. If you have a means of paying which gets you a competitive interest rate (for example I use an Amex Dollar ICC card then settle it via Wise) this is a cost of c.£1,785 for a price per point of 0.372p vs @Rob ‘s 0.41p cost in the article, nearly a 10% discount 😉

  • MarkZ says:

Hmmm. Desired Accor hotel is in the participating list, but only offering the 20% discount on certain room types, which are unsuitable for my needs. No deal.

  • BJ says:

@Rob, I just spotted over on LL $99 HIX pancake suits that supposedly come with 50,000 IHG bonus points … I don’t know what else to say!
