Get 350 bonus Avios when you agree to auto-convert your Nectar points

Avios has launched a new bonus for anyone who opts-in to automatically converting their Nectar points to Avios.

This offer MAY be targeted. It shows in the Nectar app for some people but not for others. It is NOT showing on the official Nectar page of ba.com.

Do NOT try to get this deal if you do not see it under ‘Partner Offers’ in the Nectar app.

Get 350 bonus Avios when you agree to auto-convert your Nectar points

The standard conversion rate of Nectar points to Avios is 400 : 250.

As a Nectar point is worth 0.5p when spent at Sainsburys, Argos, eBay etc, you are giving up £2 of free shopping in return for 250 Avios. In other words, you are buying Avios for 0.8p. This is a decent deal.

Until 7th August, you will receive 350 bonus Avios if you agree to auto-convert your Nectar points into Avios and transfer at least 800 Nectar points.

(For clarity, there is no bonus in the opposite direction. The rate from Avios into Nectar remains at the devalued 400:400.)

This is a decent deal if you only have a modest number of Nectar points, but at least 800. Someone with exactly 800 Nectar points would receive 500 base Avios + 350 bonus Avios, for a total of 850 Avios.

Obviously if you have 8,000 Nectar points, worth 5,000 Avios, the extra 350 is neither here nor there and you should arguably wait for a better incentive.

Get 350 bonus Avios when you auto-convert your Nectar points

What is the small print?

There doesn’t seem to be much, which is good.

The offer runs to 7th August.

You need to set up auto-convert on your Nectar account and have at least 800 Nectar points transfer to Avios by 7th August.

You do NOT receive the bonus immediately. It will post by 4th September.

Nothing stops you deactivating auto-convert later but I would wait until you have received the bonus.

You can see full details on how to auto-convert on ba.com here or the Nectar site here.

As a reminder, do NOT take part in this offer if you can’t see if promoted in the Nectar app – it appears to be targeted.

  • Alex says:

I’ve just done this but randomly have now seen 192 bonus points credited to my Nectar under “British Airways Bonus Reward”. Anyone have a clue what this is??

    • Sudz74 says:

Likely to be the double Nectar points offer from a month or two ago. Mine posted two days ago

      • Scott says:

190 points for me as well.

Will convert to pretty much the same Avios as a MAN-LHR ET flight 😉

  • Lonjams says:

Have this offer. Being a bit dim before my coffee… do I turn on auto-convert and then manually convert 800 nectar to avios before the 7th of August or just need to have 800 nectar points sitting in my account after I turn on auto-convert?

    • Rob says:

I assumed the latter but I agree the official wording (which I didn’t publish) is vague.

    • Tony says:

They auto-convert on a weekly basis, usually a Monday, so long as you’ve got 800 points ready to auto-convert you should be fine. That’s what happen to me last time one of these bonuses was offered.

  • Alex G says:

Can someone remind what the previous, more generous, offer was?

Currently have about 22000 Nectar, and hoping for a better incentive.

    • R2 says:

      Hi Alex,

The previous offer was a 20% bonus to Avios.

My plan is to turn on auto convert on Tuesday 6th July. Manually convert 800 nectar > Avios. Turn off auto convert on the 8th (Auto conversion usually happens on a Monday so your remaining nectar balance ‘should’ remain untouched).

Nothing in the terms say that this can’t be done.

  • Peter Taysum says:

    Done thanks!

  • Alan says:

I’m holding on to my nectar points in the hope of a bonus like the previous 20% done previously. But I do not have this offer. I have a feeling that many of these targeted offers are not given to those with larger balance of points.

    • Scott says:

A lot of these are aimed at everyone rather than targeted.
I’ve been auto-converting since the tie up began, and still get messages about signing up etc.

    • Dubious says:

I’ve been doing the same but someone’s just stolen a load! Somehow they’ve even managed to put the balance into negative.

  • Jo says:

Unfortunately I clicked auto convert and it took all of my 25200 avios and change to nector so lost 9250 avios be careful when auto convert
