Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

STILL ON: Get 250 free Avios for joining Marriott Bonvoy – no stay required

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

I thought I’d give this deal another push today, given that it is three months since we originally covered it and these are genuinely free Avios.

It’s not very often that you can pick up some Avios for nothing, but Marriott Bonvoy is keen to sign up British Airways Executive Club members to its hotel loyalty programme.

Sign up to Marriott Bonvoy and you’ll receive 250 Avios. No stay required. Fill in the form and you get the points.

Get 250 free Avios for joining Marriott Bonvoy

I know that the majority of HfP readers will already have a Marriott Bonvoy membership, but for those who don’t this is a good opportunity.

How do you join Marriott Bonvoy?

This special offer only works via this link.

All it wants is your name, email address and your British Airways Executive Club number.

You will receive your 250 Avios within 60 business days.

It’s worth nothing that some people who signed up when the offer launched are reporting that they haven’t had their Avios yet. I don’t have an easy answer to that, except that Marriott is running this offer aggressively across multiple airline across the world, is putting a lot of money behind promoting it (we ran some ads last month) and will undoubtedly sort it out.

One thing to note ….

There is one bit of small print. Your Bonvoy account will be set up to earn Avios and not Marriott Bonvoy points on your future Marriott stays. If you’d rather collect Marriott Bonvoy points then you will need to change this in your account settings after the bonus has arrived.

Earning Avios from your stays is probably better for you, however. You are clearly not someone who stays regularly enough at Marriott hotels to build up enough points for a free night. Taking Avios (most brands earn 2 Avios per $1 spent, pre tax) is cleaner.

The offer ends on 15th September. Click here to sign up.

  • PeterK says:

My wife signed up in April, no avios received but her Marriott account activity does show a transaction ‘250 miles awarded’. Her points balance shows as 0 as expected as the award clearly states miles (not points).

  • Bob Alex says:

I did the application like many others several months ago and no miles.
I’ve yet to see a post from anyone who has received the miles.
It’s small feed but if they can’t be trusted over that they won’t get any purposefully directed business from me. A negative promotion success.

    • Paramount23 says:

Mine, and my sons 250 Avios points finally hit our BAEC accounts today. They show on the transaction page of our BAEC accounts as:

      Tansaction: 12-Apr-24
      Posted: 23-Jul-24
      Hotel: MARRIOTT ACQUISITION CAMPAIGN 250

Not sure if HFP gave them a nudge after all the complaints the other day about not getting the points within the promotional period. However, If they did, then it worked.

  • PeterK says:

My wife’s Bonvoy account was showing the 250 miles award back in April but nothing had transferred to BAEC as of Monday this week. She chased Marriott two days ago who said yesterday they had transferred the points over to BA in June. Nothing was showing on her BAEC account but coincidentally they have just appeared as a transaction dated yesterday. Result!

  • KY says:

I finally received my free 250 points.

Description – Hotel: MARRIOTT ACQUISITION CAMPAIGN
    Transaction Date – Transaction: 12-Apr-24
    Posted: 23-Jul-24

  • Andrew Rose says:

I did the application like many others several months ago for my Wife and myself, but still await the 250 Avois points to be credited to our account. I would really appreciate it if HfP could speak to Marriott Bonvoy on reader’s behalf to enquire what the issue is with crediting the Avois points to new subscribers accounts

    • Rob says:

They appeared last week. However, they are backdated in your account statement so don’t show at the top of the list.

  • Ian Hardie says:

As above wife and I did the application after HfP heads up. No points yet, kind of sours it a bit. Perhaps they need to say how long it will take.

    • Rob says:

Have you been back through your Avios statement to March? They are being backdated.
