5,000 Virgin Points via Clubcard for OVO Energy customers – even existing ones

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

It’s been a long time since Tesco Clubcard had any meaningful third party partners for earning points, but a new deal has just been launched with OVO Energy.

What is interesting is that even EXISTING OVO Energy customers can pick up £25 of Clubcard points just for registering.

The deal isn’t restricted to new customers, although new customers will qualify.

5,000 Virgin Points via Clubcard for OVO Energy customers

How do you get your Clubcard points?

Take a look at the OVO Energy website here.

If you switch your gas and electricity to OVO Energy, you will receive 2,500 Tesco Clubcard points.

These are worth £25 to spend in-store, but as a HfP reader you are more likely to use them for 5,000 Virgin Points, £50 to spend at Hotels.com or with another of Tesco Clubcard’s spend partners.

Any fixed or standard variable tariff offered by OVO Energy qualifies.

The only snag is that you must have a smart meter to take part in the offer.

What about existing OVO Energy customers?

It’s effectively free money (or free points) for you, as long as you have a smart meter.

All you need to do is:

  • Log in to your OVO account
  • Go to your profile and select ‘Our partners’
  • Click on the Tesco Clubcard logo
  • Link your Tesco Clubcard and OVO accounts
  • Activate the offer in your Clubcard account

…. and you’ll get 2,500 Tesco Clubcard points within 60 days.

The offer runs to 11th June 2025, so you have plenty of time even if you are currently under contract to another energy supplier.

You can find out more on the OVO Energy site here.

4.5 Million 1st Generation Smart meters are now not functioning as Smart meters, they are installed by the Utility Companies and if you switch utility companies the smart functions don’t work with the new utility company because they were not designed to do this, they are also on 3G which is being phased out over the next few years by the mobile companies and they can’t be upgraded to 5G. In Europe there is only 1 supplier that installs smart meters and they don’t have this problem when they switch energy companies.
If you live in a block of flats and the meters are in an underground carpark or garage a smart meter won’t work because it cannot get a signal, totally useless.
I am with Utility Warehouse, you can get a prepaid debit card which is linked to your Utility Warehouse account every time you use the card you get discounts off your shopping and this is credited to your bills, which comes off your energy bills. You can have your gas, electric, home phone, mobile and broadband with UW all on a single monthly bill. More convenience less hassle.

As the price cap changes on Monday read your meters and submit the readings before then to your energy company to get an accurate bill, I do this every month anyway.
If you are unsure how to do this there are instructions on your energy suppliers website.

There’s nothing cheap about Utility Warehouse. They have to pay all those pyramid sellers.
