5,000 Virgin Points via Clubcard for OVO Energy customers – even existing ones

It’s been a long time since Tesco Clubcard had any meaningful third party partners for earning points, but a new deal has just been launched with OVO Energy.

What is interesting is that even EXISTING OVO Energy customers can pick up £25 of Clubcard points just for registering.

The deal isn’t restricted to new customers, although new customers will qualify.

5,000 Virgin Points via Clubcard for OVO Energy customers

How do you get your Clubcard points?

Take a look at the OVO Energy website here.

If you switch your gas and electricity to OVO Energy, you will receive 2,500 Tesco Clubcard points.

These are worth £25 to spend in-store, but as a HfP reader you are more likely to use them for 5,000 Virgin Points, £50 to spend at Hotels.com or with another of Tesco Clubcard’s spend partners.

Any fixed or standard variable tariff offered by OVO Energy qualifies.

The only snag is that you must have a smart meter to take part in the offer.

What about existing OVO Energy customers?

It’s effectively free money (or free points) for you, as long as you have a smart meter.

All you need to do is:

  • Log in to your OVO account
  • Go to your profile and select ‘Our partners’
  • Click on the Tesco Clubcard logo
  • Link your Tesco Clubcard and OVO accounts
  • Activate the offer in your Clubcard account

…. and you’ll get 2,500 Tesco Clubcard points within 60 days.

The offer runs to 11th June 2025, so you have plenty of time even if you are currently under contract to another energy supplier.

You can find out more on the OVO Energy site here.

  • Matt says:

“Activate the offer in your Clubcard account” – there was a button in my Ovo account to activate the offer, and it now says I’ll be credited with the points. I can’t see anything to activate in my Clubcard account though.

    • Vit says:

Likewise…. A bit confusing from that statement but I did the same.

  • The Original David says:

Does this work with electricity only? My property doesn’t use gas…

  • Jan says:

We also get about 40% rebate on charging our EV with OVO! Not to be sniffed at. Another incentive to switch.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Octopus electric and gas trackers are c20-30% lower for all your energy usage. Saved a fortune over winter.

  • Billy says:

I’ve been told I only qualify if I install a smart meter.

  • Alan says:

To be clear they have to make all offers available if you say you are happy to have a smart meter installed. If it turns out that they don’t want to install it as your property in not suitable for a smart meter that should not make you ineligible.

  • Harrier25 says:

Leave the Octopus tracker tariff to go back to OVO? Err, no thanks.

  • GS says:

Just moved to EDF and closed my OVO account this month… At least I locked in a decent enough rate but unlucky timing!

  • John says:

Why so many moaning about smart meters. God
