New American Express cashback offers for Heathrow Express and Esso

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

American Express has launched a cashback deal with Heathrow Express. This may or may not show on any of your cards and you will need to opt-in to register under the ‘Offers’ tab.

You will receive 10% or 15% back (it varies by cardholder) on ANY transaction until 13th September. You can only earn the bonus once per card.

The Heathrow Express booking page is here.

Remember that you can earn 5 Avios per £1 spent on Heathrow Express tickets if you use the heathrowexpress.com/avios landing page.  This is more attractive than the standard rewards offer of 1 Heathrow Rewards point per £1 spent but you can only buy full fare tickets there.

An Amex offer of £5 off a £50 Esso spend has also appeared. This is valid to 15th July and can only be used once per registered card.

Remember that you can:

The price gap between supermarket petrol and branded petrol has narrowed. Since Asda and Morrisons were taken over and decided to stop using petrol as a loss leader, all supermarkets have increased their fuel prices. Even readers who usually avoided Esso due to cost should come out on top with £5 cashback.

It is also worth checking the Nectar app for any opt-in Nectar bonuses before visiting Esso. Any bonuses will be under the ‘Partner Offers’ section.

Not seeing Esso on any of our cards.

  • aseftel says:

Rixos Bab Al Bahr seems to have recently joined ALL (it was previously non-participating) as well.

  • Paul says:

Amex offers at present are dire. On BAPP I have just 6 very random offers all of which are useless to me

    • Nick says:

Agreed, Amex offers have been really poor now for a few months

  • Eshaq Choudhury says:

I have an existing booking at Hilton RAK booked via a OTA. Any idea what will happen to my booking? Will it still be honoured?

    • Rob says:

Cash bookings are fine usually. Only reward bookings are in trouble.

  • Wally1976 says:

Useful reminder to check Amex offers across our 8 cards. Unfortunately no Esso offer for us but, amongst all the companies I’ve never heard of/will never use, I did discover a £5 off £40 at Asda or M&S which may be useful. It was on our ARCC cards only.

  • Adam says:

Off-topic but Amex plat offers related. If I book prepaid-rate on IHG, GHA, Hilton websites are those processed by the hotels themselves and will trigger the offers?

    • NorthernLass says:

Hilton is usually fine as most charge you as soon as you book a non-refundable rate, IHG can be a bit more complicated as they tend to leave it until a few days before your stay. People have had various levels of success getting the hotels to charge in advance of the offer expiring.

      • Rob says:

I have a prepaid IHG next Wed which is not charged yet and I suspect won’t be.

    • Rob says:

Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Hyatt yes. Smaller chains can go either way.

    • PJJ says:

I had a stay last month at the Crowne Plaza Grand Arenas in Nice and was requested full payment by a third party in advance.
Remembering the report around Christmas of a scam, checked with the hotel that this was correct and they assured me it was. And it was in the end.
However I presume this would not work with the Amex offer with IHG

  • Rob H not Rob says:

    No Esso here either, grr.

  • tony says:

I wonder if the esso one has sold out? Was limited to 30k sign ups. Only on my Platinum card for both me and my wife.

    • RussellH says:

Maybe. I was e-mailed about the offer a couple of days ago and signed up then.
