Enterprise Car Club Hilton Honors deal

What is Enterprise Car Club?

Enterprise Car Club is a competitor to ZipcarIt offers cars ‘by the hour’ which can be booked online or via an app and picked up and dropped off – in big cities – at parking bays near your house.  In smaller towns, cars can often be picked up at railway stations, car parks or Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches.

Cars are available 24/7.  On top of the £60 annual fee, you pay an hourly charge (from £8 in London, with a daily cap of £50ish) when you rent a car and a mileage charge to reflect the distance you travel.  Fuel costs are include –  if you need to fill up, a fuel card is in the car – as is £1,000 of excess damage cover. You can pay a supplement to reduce the excess to £100.

I have no personal experience of Enterprise Car Club, although I have seen plenty of their vehicles around in London, but I have had a Zipcar membership for around 15 years now.  It works well for us, with around 10 cars within 10 minutes walk of our house, and has meant we have had no need to buy a car for day to day use.

Enterprise Car Club Hilton Honors deal

Where does Enterprise Car Club operate?

Whilst car clubs are most commonly found in London and other big cities, Enterprise operates in smaller towns too.

There are 1,300 cars available across the UK.  The website currently shows over 200 towns as having cars available.  However, I am guessing that – outside big cities – cars are only available from your local Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch and not on residential street corners.

This offer is also available for residents of the Republic of Ireland.

How do I claim my Hilton Honors membership deal?

You need to apply via this special page of the Enterprise Car Club website.

You must be at least 22 years old to join.

As the £20 of driving credit covers the £20 membership fee for the first year, the 2,000 Hilton Honors points you will receive are an extra bonus on top.

I used to be an ECC member. It works much the same as Zipcar and, generally, am quibble-free about the whole concept, with a rather large caveat around Enterprise customer service being very hit and miss. Even though you’re not dealing with branch staff (and therefore would assume there would be consistency), much of how you’re treated depends on who picks up the phone.

  • Sam Wardill says:

ECC are big in Cambridge (they have a deal with Cambridge City council). I used them for a year when I moved to Cambridge. Their customer service was absolutely terrible. They struggled to register me because my credit card at that stage had only just changed to a Cambridge Address and my drivers licence had not . They offer a deal for Cambridge residents but couldn’t seem to offer it to me as a recently moved resident. Of course a recently arrived resident is most likely to have need of an extra car!

  • CamFlyer says:

My experience in 2020/2021 was atrocious. Cars were different than advertised, not in the designated parking places or anywhere nearby, and bookings were switched atbthe last minute to alternstive cars miles away. I then spent hours on the phone to them to agree to refund the charges for the services that were not provided (ie, cars not present) or transport charges to the far away rebooked vehicles. Enterprise then
failed to pay the agreed amount (<£250) until threatened with bailiffs following a default court judgment. I have vowed never to go near Enterprise again.

    • Richie says:

I was a member and have had a similar atrocious experience. I’ve been a member of Zipcar for yonks and have not had an atrocious experience with them.

  • Andrew. says:

Good idea to check your employer’s staff portal before taking on these deals, I’ve got free Zip car membership through my employer and my brother has free Enterprise CC membership through his.

  • Paul says:

Is this considered car hire for the purposes of American Express platinum insurance? Is the excess for example covered?

    • Rob says:

Call centre usually says yes but never met anyone who claimed.

  • LittleNick says:

I was a member of Enterprise Car Club back in 2017/18 and that was in Guildford, and the cars were scattered around town, worked well. Annoying thing is with the concept/scheme is you get charged if you park it up somewhere and not actually driving but I understand why.

    • TGLoyalty says:

How is that annoying the car is in your possession and free for your use still?

Giving it back once parked up and then pick it or a new one up a few hours later might or might not make sense but you potentially lose the use of any car so it’s the risk to save a few £

  • sam says:

i found ECC poorly planned, most of the cars in London are miles apart. i’ve looked for cars around my place and near my work place, very limited.

comparing with Zipcar, you get hundreds more cars and airport pickup / drop off.

    • Richard says:

Where I live (also in London) it’s the other way round – loads from ECC and almost nothing from Zipcar. I think it depends on which borough you’re in. In the early days different boroughs did deals with different companies, and though there seems to be at least some competition now they still have areas where they’re dominant.

  • Richard says:

You’re out of date when you say the daily maximum is around £50 – it’s over £90 in London nowadays (though they have a promotion right now which brings it down to £30 until the end of April).

It’s a great service when it works, but you can’t rely on it. About one in four of my reservations gets cancelled, often at short notice. They’ll offer to switch you to another car but it can be miles away.

    • Rob says:

The £50 was actually from the website yesterday but it could well have been referring to nationwide and not London.
