Good Aer Lingus business class flight deal to New York from Paris

Yesterday we covered the new Aer Lingus sale from Manchester.

Whilst primarily aimed at economy deals on the direct routes to New York, Orlando and Barbados, it did feature direct flights to New York JFK in business class for £1,500 return. It’s not a bad price in the current market and the fare is widely available.

Luxury Flight Club flagged up an exceptional deal from Paris, however.

Aer Lingus business class deals

For €1,155 (£990) you can fly Aer Lingus in business class from Paris to New York. This fare is available for much of the next year and, even better the fare is refundable for a 15% fee and an administration fee.

Here’s an example via aerlingus.com:

These flights change aircraft in Dublin and so you will clear US immigration there. You land in New York as a domestic passenger and walk straight out of the airport.

Unfortunately, because Aer Lingus flights still do not earn British Airways Executive Club tier points, there is no ‘status’ reason to book this deal. You also won’t earn a huge number of Avios, because the Aer Lingus scheme now rewards you on what you spend – which isn’t much.

The only reason to book would be a) to save a lot of money on a business class flight (in return for a diversion to Paris and back to Dublin) or b) to try out Aer Lingus business class. That said, if you are time rich, (relatively) cash poor and an aviation enthusiast it could work.

You can check pricing on aerlingus.com here.

Radisson Red according to the announcement in Jan

  • Erico1875 says:

Radisson Red in Glasgow is one of the citys most popular hotels.

    • TGLoyalty says:

The reviews are very complimentary…Sky at seems well liked

Or do you mean it’s “popular” too

  • memesweeper says:

Aer Lingus partners may give status and mileage credit on cheap business tickets, eg Alaskan or United. Otherwise it’s sub 3,000 Avios with Aer Lingus for the Paris to New York example.

  • Gordon says:

That said, if you are time rich, cash poor and an aviation enthusiast it could “work”.

“Work” being the operative word! You should be looking for it, not flying business class to New York!

    • Jack says:

Or maybe, as long as they can afford the ticket, people could spend their money how they want, without judgement. Rob flagged the deal; don’t shame people for using it. 🙂

      • Gordon says:

Oh dear! It was meant to be a tongue in cheek comment! And not to be taken seriously!!!!

        • Jack says:

Noted! Tone easy to misinterpret. As you were…

          • ianM says:

Sometimes I think this site needs a reality check – if you’re cash poor you’re not going to be taking business class flights via Paris. Oh dear.

          • Rob says:

This is obviously relative. You can enjoy flying business class, not have £3k for a ticket but would pay £1k.

  • phantomchickenz says:

And yet Marriot is still taking bookings for the Autumn Internationals. I assume existing bookings will transfer to the new ownership.

  • Chris W says:

Is the Aer Lingus deal only available to NYC?

  • AS says:

“ These flights change aircraft in Dublin and so you will clear US immigration there.”

If I am reading it correctly, the screenshot shows you change planes at SNN on the outbound. But assume that the US clearance still applies?

    • Rob says:

      Yes

    • lumma says:

Pre clearance is open 9-17 at Shannon, so yes you’ll clear immigration there

      • lumma says:

I always wonder if anyone ever got denied entry to the USA at Shannon on BA1/3 when they were running and what BA would do about getting you back to London

        • mhughes says:

or in this case what EI would do to get you back to Paris.

        • jjoohhnn says:

Would they have to get you back to London or would they just be able to abandon you at SNN? It is in the CTA after all, so UK / Irish citizens could easily be left there ‘legally’. Perhaps not, if you are a different nationality!

          • Nick says:

I’m not sure it ever actually happened, but they could (and would) have used the EI flight SNN-LHR in the event of refused entry. Remember though that all pax on US flights are pre-screened by CBP and it’s fairly unlikely that anyone would have boarded that flight in LCY who wouldn’t have got in.

          • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

It definitly did happen a couple of times as I recall threads about it on the BA flyer talk board.
