British Airways Holidays has launched a new Business Class sale for luxury city breaks and beach holidays.

All holidays on offer include business class flights departing from London airports, which means they come with airport lounge access, priority check-in, priority boarding, fast track security etc, and 4* or 5* hotels.

There are some good deals on offer, including city breaks to the USA and Canada which in some cases cost little more than the price of the flights alone.

Don’t forget double British Airways Executive Club tier points

If the holiday (‘flight and hotel’, or ‘flight and car’ package) you book is for five or more nights, and you complete travel before the end of this year, Executive Club members will receive double tier points on their flights.

This is a fantastic opportunity to earn or retain status in Executive Club. We covered this offer in more details in our article here.

There are two things to note about the double tier points offer:

  • you must book flights which carry a British Airways flight number – codeshare flights are acceptable but only if your booking shows a BAXXXX flight number
  • whilst your booking must contain at least five nights of hotel or car rental, your overall stay can be longer

This offer is so generous that you could earn Silver status in British Airways Executive Club – which is enough for free seat selection and lounge access – with just two short breaks.

Longer European flights such as Athens or Malta earn 160 tier points return in Club Europe, which doubles to 320 tier points under this offer. Do two of those and you’re over the 600 tier point threshold for Silver!

Full details of the ‘double tier points’ offer can be found on the British Airways Holidays website here.

Why book with British Airways Holidays?

As well as making a saving on the cost of booking your flight and hotel separately (in some cases, a package may be less than a standalone flight!), there are some other important benefits when you book via British Airways Holidays:

  • you only need to pay a deposit now with the balance not due until 5-7 weeks before travel – this is a real benefit compared to a ‘flight only’ booking where you need to pay upfront
  • you earn 1 bonus Avios for every £1 spent at BA Holidays – for clarity, this is on top of the usual Avios earned from your flights
  • you earn double Avios (3 per £1) on your payment to BA Holidays if you use a British Airways Premium Plus American Express credit card
  • as we covered above, you can earn double tier points on your flights if you stay for 5+ nights and travel before the end of 2024

You can also use Avios to pay or part-pay at BA Holidays – see our article here. You can part-pay with Avios alongside the extra savings available in the sale.

These British Airways Holidays sale deals must be booked by Tuesday 19th March to take advantage of the additional discounts. To find out more and book, visit the British Airways Holidays Sale site here.

I think the “All these deals are for the full business class offering” needs a bit of a caveat. I don’t think BA provides a lounge at CFU, for example, (although there is one on Priority Pass).

    • BadBob says:

Is CE ever really a “full business class offering” ?!

      • Rob says:

All these people who never fly CE and still feel happy to comment 🙂

Meal I had coming back from Iceland the other week was better than any BA or Virgin long haul Club meal I’ve had in the last year. Printed menus back on longer routes too.

        • dougzz99 says:

Agreed. CE food widely regarded as better than long haul, by people actually flying. There seems a good number of people entrenched in a particular view, based on things they’ve read, hugely out of date experience, or simply herd instinct.
T3 OW lounges a perfect example.

        • astra19 says:

I often get menus from Glasgow too!

          • lcylocal says:

This is because of the calorie labelling regulations introduced in 2022.

          • The real Swiss Tony says:

Interesting if this is mandated as I got a menu GLA-LHR but not LCY-GLA???

          • LD27 says:

You get menus on Inverness flight too. Had a nice plate of salmon recently for brunch as flight delayed and didn’t fancy full English.

        • lcylocal says:

I have often thought a lot of these comments come from people with Silver or greater status, so discount the lounge, luggage, fast track benefits of CE. I doubt though in reality that that is the majority of travellers in CE.

          • dougzz99 says:

As a gold TS can be your friend, but one of the nicest benefits of CE is empty seat next to you. That creates a much greater sense of space than having someone crammed in the middle seat.

          • John says:

Most of the benefits don’t apply at LCY 🙂 and I suspect 90%+ of LCY flyers in CE are silver or above

        • Alex G says:

I have flown CE many times. It’s crap. But Domestic First in the US for flights of similar duration is well worth it.

          • JDB says:

CE is much maligned. It compares very favourably with other legacy carrier business cabins and in US carriers. The food is remarkably decent, wine less so. The seat is fine once middle one is empty. I find the service generally much better and more consistent than CW which is the real problem with awful food, wine and incredibly slow, inefficient service. I was pleasantly surprised also last Sunday by just how much improved South Galleries lounge was.

          • Rob says:

So you pay for it even though you hate it? No wonder IAG announced a €3.5bn profit yesterday 🙂

          • dougzz99 says:

US domestic first is a much better seat than CE, but in every other respect is inferior to CE. You may get a drink, food on anything under a couple of hours is a choice of salt and saturated fat from a basket. It’s not uncommon on AA for the flight attendants to not offer service because of turbulence, when in reality they can’t be bothered, and as US typically leave the seat belt sign on permanently that’s always the available excuse.

        • BadBob says:

I fly CE almost exclusively within Europe. It’s certainly not a “full business service” but it is definitely better than economy, granted.
Printed menu on the LHR-AGP route earlier in the week.

          • Rob says:

Given that a high % of BA flights seem to be running with the maximum 12 rows of CE these days, people seem to be paying up.

          • Lee says:

BA CE used to give a proper dinner and now it just a cold salad snack upfront. Also no more cognac or single malt whisky. And the champagne (as now from big bottles) tends to be luke warm so undrinkable. The luggage space tends to fill up quickly with Economy luggages though. Other airlines do control that better.
Thus the seating space is now the only benefit.

          • Rob says:

The salads seem to be gone except on short routes where there is no time to heat a meal. Even then, you get two choices now.

Tell you what is bizarre …. when we went to Iceland, my son had a kids meal and I had the normal Full English. The kids meal was the Full English PLUS baked beans on top! You get more food ….

          • George says:

“So you pay for it even though you hate it? ”

Not necessarily. Might be using avios and in many cases when I’ve booked there’s only been CE available. Still cheaper than paying cash fares sometimes

  • Renaud says:

With BA Holidays, is it possible to book a hotel stay that is shorter than the total stay? E.g 2 weeks between outbound and inbound flights, but only book a hotel for the first week?

    • Sarah says:

Yes, do the Custom Trip option and you can select the flight, then add the hotel for the dates you want

  • Nick says:

Hi all. Re the BA Holidays double points is PE marked different in points collection than Business and where might I find that calculation

  • r* says:

How many days into the ‘sale’ will it be this time before the usual addition of ‘save an extra £10 when spending £1000 etc’ 😀

  • Tom says:

Looking to book a city break in Budapest through the BA sale. If we were to book to stay at the Hilton, could I then get my Hilton Honours status applied to the booking for breakfast and possible upgrade? Would I need to call BB or Hilton or both? TIA

    • Lou says:

No official Hilton perks if you book through BA. You might get lucky and the hotel might recognise your status for breakfast

      • Tom says:

        Thanks Lou

        • lcylocal says:

I got the Hilton Budapest to recognise my Hilton Gold for breakfast on a BA Holiday. But this was in 2017 so things may very well have changed now.

  • John says:

What happened to the champagne in their Galleries lounges? AKA what’s the point anymore?!

    • Gordon says:

It has to be requested, preferably two at a time to save legwork! It is not self pour….

      • John says:

What could the saving possibly amount to? A couple of quid per bottle? Would rather they put it on my fare than continuously diminish the experience of travelling in CE/CW.

    • Rhys says:

      On request

    • Andrew. says:

In Edinburgh they walk the lounge and offer Champagne from a salver.

  • sayling says:

Blimey – the Canada/US deals are likely to leave you frozen or baked, aren’t they?

    • lumma says:

Yeah, I was wondering who wants to go to Chicago or New York in January too

      • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

        I love NYC in January!

Prices much cheaper and room to wander in the museums because everyone else is scared of a bit of cold

        • Gordon says:

Agreed- I was in NY Christmas and new year, 3 years ago, and watching the live cams of Times Square a day before we flew, I could see it was snowing heavily, and a ride through Central Park on a horse and cart was a great experience in them conditions, plus the Christmas lights and store exterior decorations are quite exquisite.

  • Mr Sound says:

I have a BA holiday booked already but I’ve only paid the deposit, any chance I could get the balance repriced during the sale?

    • Mr Sound says:

Actually, I’ve just looked and it’s £80 more expensive now anyway, maybe I booked it in a sale before Christmas. I would have just deleted my comment but that doesn’t seem possible?

      • PlaneSpeaking says:

Mr Sound, your point shouldn’t be deleted as it’s actually very valid. I’ve been monitoring prices for flight+car to PFO in December. Last night, it went up by £25 and I said to my partner that there’s a sale about to launch and here it is! Of course, it’s more about marketing speak than being a genuine sale!
