The Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport hotel has reopened its doors following the first phase of an £8 million refurbishment.

All 299 rooms have been renovated – see image above – and a new ‘open lobby’ introduced, where food is served (breakfast is available from 5.30am).

Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport reopens

The new and improved bedrooms feature high quality Egyptian cotton sheets, large flatscreen TVs, highspeed WiFi, bathtubs and double glazed windows for noise reduction. Every spacious room has a modern and calming colour palate for a peaceful night’s sleep and those who upgrade to Club Rooms can enjoy added comforts such as deluxe toiletries, a King-sized bed and ample working space.

The refurbishment is not yet complete. Work is on-going on a new Club Lounge and a stand-alone restaurant. Once these are open we will pop up to take a look.

  • John says:

There will be direct coaches from Hammersmith to Heathrow. If getting to Hammersmith is not too difficult that’s the best way to get to at least T2/3

    • david says:

yep. Replacements buses between Heathrow and Acton Town calling at South Ealing, Northfields, Boston Manor, Osterley, Hounslow East, Hounslow Central, Hounslow West, Hatton Cross, and Heathrow Central Bus Station (Heathrow Terminal 5, overnight only)
Non-stop from Hammersmith to Heathrow Central Bus Station

  • Gordon says:

Try using the great eastern main line, thats closed for engineering works a lot of weekends/evenings.
Admittedly not weekdays but still a pain with the extra time with coach transfers etc.

    • Andrew. says:

Or the Cambridge Line. Number of times I’ve been bussed from Royston (not Vasey) at weekends over recent years. It’s not even as if they manage to keep the Liverpool Street route open as an alternative.

      • Gary says:

Can’t keep Liverpool Street route open when the works are at Cambridge South for the new station at the Biomedical Campus. Runs for a bit yet before it opens.

  • NorthernLass says:

We stayed at Château Mont Royal about 20 years ago and hoping to visit again now it’s an IC. I recall the breakfast was rather sumptuous, with delicious scrambled eggs laced with double cream. If you don’t want to drive you’d need to get a taxi to the nearest station to get into central Paris.

It’s also well-situated for the beautiful Château de Chantilly if you like Renaissance history and/or Bond films (it was the obligatory villain’s lair in A View to a Kill)!

    • David says:

Am sure the breakfast now bears no relation to that of 20 years ago, but thanks.

      • Chrisasaurus says:

Let’s hope not. Cream in scrambled eggs? Heresy!

      • NorthernLass says:

Scrambled eggs still feature quite prominently in hotel breakfasts, you should try staying at one!

        • David says:

I imagine you’d love to stay in hotels as frequently as I do. You may even get your sparkling diamond legitimately, if you did.

Still have no idea why you think a breakfast at a hotel 20 years ago has any relevance for this current incarnation… or is it more just so that you can try and be endlessly relevant.

          • Chas says:

NorthernLass’s post didn’t say that a breakfast 20 years ago was relevant – she just referenced a memory from a previous stay at the property under a different guise. So why is it then relevant for you to respond with a rude and personal attack on her?

  • daveinitalia says:

It’s been 11 years since I’ve been at the CP in MAN. I’m trying to remember if that hotel had an Irish bar in it at the time or am I thinking of the one near LHR (just off the M4)? I wonder if they’ve done something with the space where the pool used to be (I guess reopening it would be too much), when I stayed there the pool had already been closed but you could tell there used to be one as the exit from the changing rooms to the pool were blocked off.

    • Sididdly says:

The Irish Bar was in the Heathrow CP off the M4. Even though it was a bit dated I loved that hotel for some reason!
Manchester CP was always a ‘solid’ option for a one nighter pre-flight with a compact but functional club lounge and an ok bar area. Looking forward to seeing the upgraded rooms/facilities.

    • Andy says:

I feel like I remember the Manchester bar being vaguely Irish themed, but I also don’t think I ever went in the bar so I’m not a reliable witness! I remember the restaurant being a fairly decent Chinese though.

      • Blair Waldorf Salad says:

There was more than one restaurant. Sampans, the Chinese restaurant, was run somewhat more independently and apparently so good that non-guest locals would drive there just for the restaurant. I certainly trudged my travelling party over from the Radisson to the CP for dinner there.

  • Peter K says:

I wonder if they’ve improved the soundproofing at the CP Man airport. It was very poor the only the I used it.

  • aseftel says:

No suites at the IC? Looks like the top category room is ‘1 Queen Premium Outdoor Terrace’

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

      when are you looking for?

Over new year cash booking is showing ‘1 king junior suite’

Ditto or random date in novemner

      • aseftel says:

Oh there’s a junior suite that’s cheaper than the premium queens with outdoor space. Still, no senior suites?

  • Tom says:

Reward booking at Intercontinental Chantilly is showing as non-refundable at the moment. 😕

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

That depends on the dates you were lookign at

Just did a dummy booking for November and it’s the normal T&Cs of cancel the day before

Over new year then it’s 2 weeks before

    • Rob says:

Is that during the French Open / Olympics / New Year? Hotels are allowed to do this over peak event periods.

  • Mr Benjamin Murphy-Ryan says:

We went to park asterix as part of a trip last summer – great theme park and character theming, as an alternative to Disney. It’s 20 mins max from CDG
