London Gatwick has become the first airport in the UK to open a dedicated charging station for electric cars.

The new state-of-the-art GRIDSERVE facility has 30 high-power and low-power vehicle chargers, available 24 hours a day. The fastest chargers can add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.

It is located on Ring Road South at London Gatwick’s South Terminal and adjacent to the M23.

Whilst you wait, there is high-speed Wi-Fi, a lounge area, Costa Coffee, a Little Fresh convenience store and ‘an interactive EV experience area’.

The facility is not exclusively for passengers and can also be used by local residents, commuters and businesses.

The building is open every day from 4.30am to 10.00pm, with chargers available 24/7 year-round.

    Definitely 0.92p @ 3 x boost
    No better, no worse
Still not bad if you’ve got the cash and can redeem better than the 0.1p valuation

    1,490,496 Avios for £23,831.78. Err…no thanks!

  • MPC says:

I’m not usually in the habit of buying Avios, but my redemptions this year are all well over 2p with one at 4.6p, which I definitely would have paid cash for. Makes me think this isn’t the worst deal at 0.92p

    You’ve tempted me BA/Points company!

Thanks for the IHG tip. Have London Crowne Plaza booked in near future, using points – 36000. The sale makes it 27200 ! Easy cancel and rebook.

Boost your balance by 303,318 Avios:

    £8,247.46

    3x boosted

Thanks for the IHG info. I saved 5,000 points on a future booking.

I’m tempted. Boosting the available avios in both mine and the wife’s accounts would almost complete the spend needed for amex platinum SUB. Then dinner for £150, spend £50 at HN, transfer out the bonus and close for refund…

That IHG sale is a bit odd.
I’ve got a couple of rooms booked at an HIX for a few nights next month.
I keep an eye on the price, and earlier this week, the rooms were around 18k each.
Last year, they did hit a high of about 20k each.
Today, they are showing as 21k discounted to 17850 per night.

I paid 17333 per room per night last year.

So no idea why they’ve suddenly shot up from 18k the other day to 21k today, in order to then come down to 17850 with the 15% ‘discount’.
Almost Qatar Airways level of deception.

OK, we’re talking peanuts here, but its the principle.

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

@Aston100 I have a couple of bookings at the CP LHR T4 for next week and for me the discounts are real based on what I originally paid for them – one in October and one in December,

The current non discounted price has been the same for several weeks (even if it’s higher than the original booking but the cash price has gone up as well) as I’ve been doing my regular bookings checks.

    • Rob says:

And what was the cash price then and now? IHG reward pricing is now linked to cash rates.

      • Erico1875 says:

If they up the cash price for a day to then promote a sale then it’s deceptive.

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Now able to check my points bookings that come under this offer

      1. Booked in December for 21,000. Shortly after went up to 22,000 where it has stayed. Under offer it’s 18,700 so a saving of 2,300 based on the original price

2 Booked in August for 21,000. Rebooked in Octover for 19,000. Current price 22,000 which like above it’s been for a good few weeks. Under the offer it’s also 18,700 but only a saving of 300 points
