Marriott Bonvoy has a special partnership with Emirates Skywards called ‘Your World Rewards‘, which offers special cross-partner deals for Marriott Bonvoy and Emirates Skywards elite members.

There is also a partnership with United MileagePlus, which includes status matches between the two programmes.

Now there is a third partnership, with Singapore Airlines.

You can learn more on the Marriott website here and the Singapore Airlines website here.

status match between Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines

A new partnership announced last week allows elite members of Marriott Bonvoy and the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer programme to register for special cross-benefits.

This is on top of the two-way transfer of miles and points between the two schemes, launched in January 2023 – read here. This allowed Singapore Airlines frequent flyers to transfer their miles into Marriott Bonvoy points, on top of the long-established option to transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to KrisFlyer.

Note that, unlike the Emirates partnerships, you will NOT earn Marriott Bonvoy points simply for purchasing cash flights on Singapore Airlines. The Emirates partnership gives you 3 Bonvoy points per $1 spent on Emirates flights.

You can status match between Marriott Bonvoy and KrisFlyer

Got Marriott Bonvoy elite status?

Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador members will receive a status match to the KrisFlyer Elite Silver tier.

Marriott Bonvoy Gold members get nothing automatically but can take part in the status challenge outlined below.

Elite Silver does not get you lounge access, unfortunately.

Got Singapore Airlines elite status?

Solitaire PPS Club, PPS Club, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members will receive a status match to Marriott Bonvoy Gold.

This isn’t worth a huge amount, to be honest, but does get you a 2pm check-out and bonus points on all Marriott stays.

KrisFlyer Elite Silver members get nothing automatically but can take part in the status challenge outlined below.

Want a higher status level with Singapore Airlines?

Each level of Marriott Bonvoy elite status from Gold has access to a KrisFlyer challenge:

  • Marriott Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members get KrisFlyer Gold “for 12 months with just four flights on Singapore Airlines within six months of linking accounts”
  • Marriott Gold members get KrisFlyer Silver “for 12 months with just two flights on Singapore Airlines within six months of linking accounts”

Remember that KrisFlyer Gold is equivalent to Star Alliance Gold and would give you lounge access with all Star Alliance airlines. This isn’t a bad return for four potentially cheap regional economy flights on Singapore Airlines if you happen to be in Asia.

Want a higher status level with Marriott Bonvoy?

Select levels of KrisFlyer elite status have access to a Marriott Bonvoy challenge:

  • PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members get Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status with 10 qualifying nights within six months of registration
  • KrisFlyer Elite Silver members get Marriott Bonvoy Silver status with three qualifying nights within six months of registration

Remember that Marriott Bonvoy Platinum is arguably the ‘sweet spot’ in the programme as it unlocks guaranteed 4pm check-out (with some exceptions), free breakfast, free executive lounge access and the potential for decent upgrades. If you have Elite Gold with Singapore Airlines this is worth chasing.

And there’s more ….

The two parties are also promising to “periodically launch exclusive campaigns where members can earn both miles and points through their hotel stay and flights.”

I have deliberately kept this article brief because Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is not a key programme for most of our readers. For some people, however, there is definitely value here.

If you want to learn more, look at this page of the Marriott Bonvoy website and this page of the Singapore Airlines website.

  • BJ says:

At this rate there’ll soon be more fake elites than the real thing. At least this one doesn’t amount to an alliance-wide free lounge pass.

    • SamG says:

I’m quite surprised SQ have gone for anything that allows an easy route for more status holders, their lounges are usually packed. Though certainly in Singapore the amount of people with Marriott status but not SQ Gold is probably pretty small.

    • SB says:

I bet you’re super fun at parties

  • Wendy says:

Wow- thanks for this. Somehow I had completely missed this partnership.

  • PMG says:

Does Elite Silver definitely get you lounge access?
Looked into this recently and thought it doesn’t get you any lounge access and you need to be Elite Gold for that?

    • Peter says:

      It absolutely, positively doesn’t.

    • Tom1 says:

      No…. Gold only for SQ

    • Rob says:

This is a direct quote from the press release. Star rule normally is that Silver gets access with the airline which issues the card.

      • Jonathan says:

At least they’ve got some half decent rules on lounge access (from the perspective of airlines, and managing how busy lounges get), as if you’ve got lots of travellers who can access all Star Alliance airline lounges in one airport, there’s a chance that most will go to their favourite, and that one would probably be the most busy one

        • Jonathan says:

The same situation also applies to OneWorld and SkyTeam travellers in the exact same scenario

      • Peter says:

There is no such Star rule.
Some *A airlines offer some skimpy lounge benefits to their own Silvers (Aegean only 4x per year and only in Greece/Cyprus, Turkish only for domestic flights, Asiana only 2x per year and only in Korea etc). The Lufthansa Group offer unlimited access to their Silvers at their hubs plus a couple of outstations.
Most *A airlines, incl. SQ, only offer a hard no to their own Silvers wanting to access their lounges.

        • His Holyness says:

Miles and More airlines offer their Frequent Traveller (FTL) access to Business Class lounges operated by the member airlines.

  • Phantomchickenz says:

I’m flying AKL-LHR on SQ in a few weeks. I presume that the stop in Singapore doesn’t make this ‘two flights’ for the purposes of the challenge?

    • SamG says:

It doe, they have seperate flight numbers

      • Matt B says:

That was true to the Shangri La route previously, but this time they are using the word 4 “bookings” and on flyer talk they are talking 4 seperate PNR’s. So I am not sure.

        • Rob says:

The Marriott website (see link in article) says ‘flights’ – the quote in the article is from there.

  • Tom1 says:

I linked my accounts last week.

In Marriott, I now have a tracker that just says “10 nights maximum” with no other details. Confusingly the tracker is showing about 25%, when I’ve just done 5 nights and expected that to be 50%

Does anyone else have the tracker already ?

  • Tariq says:

Don’t suppose this can be onward matched to RJ per the article last week?

    • Travel Strong says:

With the RJ match last week – I’m at 15 mails between myself and statusmatch.com, 4 completed doc uploads, and still being asked daily to upload again – so don’t bank on anything working on that front!

  • Matt says:

When does this years Marriott status “end” (i.e. I won’t requalify for platinum for 2024). I have SQ flights planned for end of June/early July, so want to start the 6 month window for flights as late as possible!

  • Dev says:

Win / win for SQ … partner up with Marriott who have a big footprint in SE Asia and in return, cap the status match at KrisFlyer Silver which offers next to nothing.

Out of curiosity what was the transfer rate of KrisFlyer INTO Marriott BonVoy?

(The real SQ FF programme is the PPS club).
