Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

British Airways launches a very generous Uber / Avios offer

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

BA emailed a lot of people on Thursday with details of a very generous Uber offer.

You will earn 500 bonus Avios for every UK (and only UK) Uber trip you take in November, up to a maximum of 4,000 Avios. This is on top of your base Avios of 1 Avios per £1 spent.

This is a very decent rebate if you taking low cost UberX trips. The T&C also imply that the bonus will be triggered if you book train tickets or hire Lime bikes via the Uber app, which offers some interesting opportunities to those with creative minds ….

Avios Uber points bonus

The email does not say that the offer is targeted to recipients, although of course it could be. It does say ‘This offer is non-transferable’. (EDIT: It IS targeted as it seems other variants are out there.)

Full details of the Avios / Uber partnership can be found in this article. The ba.com / Uber webpage is here.

Irrespective of whether this offer is open to all or not, you would be crazy not to link your BA and Uber accounts if you are an occasional UK Uber user. The ‘1 Avios per £1’ Avios post instantly – literally within minutes of completing your ride. Bonus Avios from this promotion will NOT post instantly but will appear within 30 days.

I got collect 1,000 avios on your next trip but limited to 1 trip

  • SharonC says:

Not a great sale. I need to go to Atlanta next October so these dates don’t even cut it. Will there be better deals for Black Friday though, or is this it?

  • mradey says:

The small print in the email suggests it’s targeted to recipients of the email –

“This offer is open to users [….], customers must: 1) receive this offer from BAEC directly “

  • daveinitalia says:

Article starts off confident “you will earn” then starts doubting itself as it goes along. I got a push notification with 20% off UberXL but then says “(up to A$30)” which I guess means Australian dollars and I’ve never been to Australia.

  • Greg says:

Mine is 1000 per ride plus a bonus of 500. Max is 6000

Makes no difference though. Could be 5000 per ride. I never use UBER.

    • Andrew J says:

Why do you have an Uber account then?

      • The real Swiss Tony says:

The offer originates from BAEC, not Uber. I got 5 Avios per £, valid to end of Nov, max 4,000 Avois

  • Alan says:

    No Uber offer received here.

  • d4ve says:

    Mine is another variant:
‘Ride with Uber again and collect 1,000 bonus Avios on a single trip before 30 November 2023’

    • d4ve says:

Though I had this direct from Uber this morning so am confused!
‘ For the next 4 weeks, collect 1,000 Avios on every Premium (Exec and Lux), Reserve, and Uber Travel booking. Plus, collect 500 bonus Avios on all other ride types*, up to a maximum of 6,000 bonus Avios through 30 November 2023!’

  • tony says:

I posted in the chat thread a few days back but star alliance have some good deals TATL, £1.4k at Easter to Toronto or NYC in J. Didn’t get to do a full check of dates but worth a look if heading West.
