Get 1,000 Avios with your first Uber train or coach booking

Some readers have been emailed by Uber with a special Avios promotion.

You would receive 1,000 bonus Avios for making your next train or coach booking via the Uber app. The offer ends on 16th May and you can only earn the bonus once.

This stacks with the on-going Uber offer of 10% cashback – in the form of Uber Credits – for train, coach or Eurostar bookings made via the app.

If you received this offer, remember that a child ticket from Edinburgh Haymarket to Edinburgh Waverley is just £1.35 ….

Is this a targeted offer?

Is the offer targeted? The small print doesn’t say it is. That said, I didn’t receive it myself.

If your Avios and Uber accounts are linked and you need to book a rail ticket before 16th May, you may want to do it via the Uber app just in case it triggers the bonus. It’s a low value gamble and you get the 10% Uber Credits cashback regardless.

However, you may have a 12% LNER cashback deal available on one of your American Express cards (the current rates vary from 7% to 12%) which is a guaranteed return. Remember that all train operators, except Eurostar, can be booked via the LNER website.

Our full guide to linking your Avios and Uber accounts is here. You earn 1 Avios per £1 spent at Uber and they post instantly – literally within minutes.
