Hilton rolling out ‘keep your Diamond status with 1 stay’ – check ‘My Offers’ online

Hilton is rolling out its ‘keep your 2022 status’ promotion to more people – including me.

You may have received an email about this yesterday.

If you didn’t, you may still be targeted. I saw the offer under ‘My Offers’ on the Hilton website last week, and indeed had completed a stay – although it hasn’t posted yet – before the email arrived.

You can check ‘My Offers’ here. Our full review of Hilton Honors is here.

What’s the deal?

As you can see from the image above, if you had Diamond Elite status in Hilton Honors last year but did not retain it, Hilton is basically giving it back to you for minimal effort.

You need to do just one stay before 31st March 2023 and your status will be rolled over. It will run until 31st March 2024.

This is a complete no-brainer if you are impacted. Even if you end up doing a mattress run at your nearest Hampton for £75 or so, you’d get your money back on one stay later in the year if it got you executive lounge access and a decent upgrade.

In theory there are variants of this offer which require two or three stays, although I don’t know anyone who received one.

If you had Gold Elite status and lost it, I believe there is a similar offer with three variants, requiring either one, two or three stays. I wouldn’t necessary do a mattress run to achieve this, since free breakfast – the key benefit of Gold – isn’t likely to save you as much as the cost of pointless hotel nights. Of course, if you need a hotel stay anyway ….

If you didn’t get an email, you may still be targeted

Hilton seems to be rolling out these emails slowly, possibly to test the results and possibly to control any rush to book its cheapest hotels!

If you click here and log in it will bring up the ‘My Offers’ page of hilton.com.

Conclusion

If you thought that your Hilton Honors Diamond status was gone for good, you may have a chance to retain it for minimal cost. It is well worth doing so.

For comparison:

  • Radisson, Hyatt and IHG are not (yet?) offering any deals to people who lost their status

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

Crazy offer. Thanks Hilton, all is forgiven

  • JimBH says:

Like others have said I appear to have yeh offer showing “Active Offers” but I’ve done nothing to put it there!?

  • Suart H says:

To retain diamond i did several mattress runs in November and December at a cost of several hundred pounds .. if I’m in the same position at the end of this year there’s no way I’ll be doing that again

    • Rob says:

I put the effort into retaining Marriott Plat and let Hilton go, so whilst my Hilton is an unexpected freebie I did arguably waste effort with Marriott – albeit I did get the 5 suite night certificates.

      2023 position now:
Accor – was Diamond, soft landing to Plat
Marriott – was Titanium, earned Plat but would have been soft landed due to new policy
IHG – was Diamond, still Diamond via Ambassador renewal
Hyatt – was Globalist, will use the MGM trick to soft land to Explorist
Hilton – was Diamond, would have dropped to Amex Plat Gold but now retain Diamond

You win some you lose some

It’s the fun of the game … don’t be sour

  • Colin says:

I rang Hilton to complain and cancel my membership after learning I was made Silver after 8 years Diamond. They put me on hold a couple of times then made the offer of one stay before March 31st to retain Diamond. I then asked “ can I use points and a reward night?” They put me on hold again… “yes , that’s fine”
So I booked a one night cheap stay for 20,000 and I should retain. Date January 26th 2023

    • John says:

If you’ve been diamond for 8 years (you also need to have stayed 250 nights in total) then you could have retained status with the one-time status extension, even if this offer didn’t materialise.

  • Dace says:

Makes me so happy that as someone who took stays away from IHG to keep my Diamond status, that Diamond is now available to anyone who had it last year and does one stay. Definitely not going to chase this year whilst I liquidate my points.

  • babyg says:

hmm this seems more like a mistake fare, and i think it was targeted at the Chinese market originally.. i cant help be think there are going to be lots of unhappy people (me included) that have the offer in myoffers, do a one night stay.. but end up dropping status at end of march regardless of what screenshots etc i show hilton…

    • Chabuddy Geezy says:

I was in the Conrad Manila last week. They had the offer on a QR code in reception. I scanned it but it said I was not eligible so maybe it was for Asia based members and not just China.

      • babyg_wc says:

That’s interesting.. well Ill book a Hilton night and roll the dice to see if I get an extra year as a diamond… But equally won’t be that surprised if Hilton doesn’t honor it either…

  • Geoggy says:

I have the offer in my Diamond account as active despite being due to drop to Silver. Not had an email.

Is there any clarity on if this needs to be a paid stay?

I’m staying at Heathrow in a few weeks on points and cash but will cancel it and pay if that’s what this needs.

    • Rob says:

The call centre has told people that a reward stay would do it. Not sure if you go through these comments whether anyone got it to trigger on a reward. My stay this week was cash so that’s no help. As Hilton treats reward stays as elite qualifying it should work, in theory.

      • Jasbuc says:

I have done a reward stay but I have not had any of the congratulation you are Diamond for 2023 notification

    • Nick says:

Reward stay is fine, mine a couple of days ago has triggered

  • Robm says:

I had a reward stay on 12 January – I got the message “Great news! You’re keeping diamond status in 2023”. When I’ve just now opened the app. The reward stay is my only stay in January. Chuffed as I was due to go to silver. i would be gutted if I’d just done a mattress run.
