Conrad opens a new hotel resort in Rabat, Morocco

Going back to a story we originally covered in 2020, Conrad, Hilton’s upscale brand, has finally opened a new resort in Morocco, in the coastal city of Rabat.

Located north of Harhouara, 15 minutes from the corniche and 35 minutes from Rabat airport, it provides convenient access to historic tourist attractions such as Mausoleum Med V, Old Medina, Moorish Gardens and The Zoo of Rabat.

It is part of a luxury hotel and residential complex “surrounded by lush green gardens, ocean views and scenic walks.”

I’ve never been to Rabat but Hilton states that:

“The city is a popular destination for city breaks and celebrates with a myriad of year-long events and music festivals. Deeply rooted in arts and culture, Rabat is also home to beautiful imperial gardens, minarets, domes, wide avenues, and the Grand Theatre of Rabat, one of Africa’s largest theatres. The theatre hosts many Moroccan troupes, with visiting performances and comedies from around the world. Guests can enjoy strolling in markets that sell traditional Moroccan handicrafts, delicately painted ceramics, jewelled gowns, shoes, and hand-woven rugs from the mountains.”

There appears to be a lot of meeting space implying a tilt towards the conference and events, rather than tourist, market.

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

You also receive FREE Hilton Honors status for as long as you hold the debit cards – Gold status with the Plus card and Silver status with the basic card. This is a great reason to apply even if you rarely use it.

There is another way of getting Hilton Honors status, and earning Hilton Honors points, from a payment card.

Holders of The Platinum Card from American Express receive FREE Hilton Honors Gold status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Marriott Bonvoy Gold, Radisson Rewards Premium and MeliaRewards Gold status.
