Emirates has released FA Cup semi final tickets for Emirates Skywards members who have miles to redeem.  You can also use American Express Membership Rewards points via a transfer.

We have been critical of the pricing of VIP seats at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium this season when using Skywards miles, although at least the football has started to justify it.

The FA Cup seats have also seen a sharp jump in price from 2022.

As of 4pm on Tuesday you could get:

Manchester City vs Sheffield United on Saturday 22nd April

  • 25,000 miles for standard seats (both ends available)

Brighton vs Manchester United on Sunday 23rd April

  • 25,000 miles for standard seats (both ends available)

Note that it has not been officially confirmed which game will be on which date but due to a Europa League game in Seville on Thursday 20th April it is expected that Manchester United will play on Sunday.

This pricing represents substantial inflation on last year. In 2022, standard seats were just 13,500 miles each whilst Club Wembley hospitality packages – of which there are no sign this year – were available for 45,000 miles.

Transfers from American Express Membership Rewards to Emirates Skywards are usually instantaneous if the accounts are already linked and should be pretty quick even if they are not.

How to earn Emirates Skywards miles from UK credit cards (April 2025)

Emirates Skywards does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Emirates Skywards miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 4:3 into Emirates Skywards miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 0.75 Emirates Skywards miles

The American Express Preferred Rewards Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it, not just with Emirates but with any airline.

      No, but Brighton v Man U on Sunday makes sense. Much easier to have people travelling to and from the south coast on the day that there are fewer trains. And easier for the Brighton fans too.

    At 25k Skywards per ticket these are ridiculously overpriced.

    BTW Rob seems to have it right on dates as Brighton v Man Utd expected to take place on Sunday 23rd April due to Utd Europa league match on Thursday 20th April.

    Both semis last year, tickets were easily available.
    Liverpool v Man City was about 14k short of capacity.
    Not easy to get home on trains regardless of what day it’s on for City v Sheffield United.

    The equivalent of £250 seems nuts.

        There are 10,000 Club Wembley seats – a substantial amount not that interested in attending a semi final.
        Will be plenty on sale there.

      That’s because City couldn’t sell about 14,000 tickets. I’d hazard a bet that three of these four teams will sell their end this year.

        The City v Sheffield United semi final will get about 72k
        The other semi will get more, around 80k but there will still be 5000 empty seats.

    Is anyone familiar with the “sorry there has been an error” when adding Emirates account to Amex? I believe I’ve perfectly aligned all fields, including those that are mandatory on the Amex side but optional on the Emirates side (I added them on the Emirates side).

      This was due to the formatting of the membership number, which was not “as on your card”. 9 digits without spaces or “EK” prefix worked.

          Do it through chat. I had the same error but worked fine with them. They ask for the home phone number, but I only had my mobile added to my Skywards account, gave my mob, and it worked on chat.

            I had already updated all the fields to match. It also didn’t work on chat. My Emirates account had my abbreviated name and there is no field Amex side to put your name. Seems like Amex side uses the name on your account, and Emirates side is hard to change name and no leeway on matching common abbreviations. Eventually got it done by having Emirates chat update account name(s).

    have got 2 tickets for united v Brighton but I wont be going as they are for my brother and nephew, my brother is on my family account where I paid in miles for the miles.

    The below confuses me a bit if I have to attend or not???
