American Express has launched a bonus Avios offer for British Airways American Express cardholders.

It is restricted to 80,000 cardholders so I recommend that you register now before Amex emails everyone about it.

This is how it works:

  • You receive 2 bonus Avios for every £1 you spend
  • This is on top of your 1.5 Avios per £1, or 3 Avios per £1 for ba.com spending
  • The bonus is capped at 4,000 Avios, representing £2,000 of spending
  • The promotion ends on 15th June
  • Spending by supplementary cardholders does not count – this is not mentioned made clear online

To register, go to the American Express website here, log in to your British Airways Premium Plus account and look in your offers section.

  • Stu N says:

I expect it’ll end up being an extra 2 Avios per pound so 3.5 on most spend and 5 on spend with BA in total.

    • TGLoyalty says:

      Optimistic

    • Ronster says:

      God afternoon everyone.

I too have read this as meaning an overall additional 2 avios per £ spent, in addition to the standard 1.5 avios earned per £ spent on the card, (non BA).

So giving a total of 3.5 avios per £ spent over the promotion period.

  • ringingup says:

No offer on mine, neither in the app nor on the site. It might be because I upgraded to the BAPP card just a couple of days ago. Gutted. Is it worth giving them a call? 🙁

    • ringingup says:

Oh well, I messaged them but got the usual reply. Offers are targeted, etc…

  • Aston100 says:

    Just registered.
Only on main BAPP, not wife’s supplementary.

  • Aston100 says:

I wonder if it stacks with the current one extra avios per pound ‘retention bonus’ that some of us have got on our BAPP cards?

  • Stu N says:

I fully expect it’ll end up being an extra 2 Avios per pound so 3.5 on most spend and 5 on spend with BA in total. This has been run in the past and the extra 0.5 Avios per pound is barely worth it as a promo.

  • Yorkieflyer says:

“2 flat Avios will be rewarded upon spend of £1 per UK Card up to 4000 Avios” I’d say that’s pretty clear?

  • Yorkieflyer says:

Except I suppose as Rob says does it mean total or extra avios?

  • SJ says:

I’ve recently been offered an extra avios per pound as a retention offer, meaning 2.5 per £.
I’ve saved this offer, will be interesting to see if I get 4.5 per £ or if the retention offer will cancel out this one
