Is IHG Rewards Club holding the Spire Elite target at 55,000 points for 2021?

IHG Rewards Club has yet to announce how it is treating status qualification requirements for 2022.

Accor Live Limitless, World of Hyatt and Hilton Honors have already halved their status requirements for 2022 – see here for Accor, here for Hyatt and here for Hilton.

This has left IHG and Marriott looking exposed.

Whilst nothing has been announced yet, the IHG app is showing Spire Elite qualification for 2022 as requiring 55,000 points. This is the same reduced level used for 2021 qualification.

Oddly, the IHG website is still showing Spire Elite needing 75,000 status points for 2022. Don’t take 55,000 points as definite until either the website changes too or IHG sends out an email.

This is a good result for anyone holding the IHG Rewards Club credit cards, especially the (now closed to new applicants) Premium version, as points from card spending count towards status. IHG is the only airline or hotel group which offers this benefit on a UK credit card.
