2,000 lucky holders of The Platinum Card from American Express are about to get themselves a very generous offer indeed – £400 of free Marriott International hotel stays.

This new offer has just launched. Only 2,000 people are able to register.

If you have The Platinum Card, I STRONGLY recommend that you look at your online offers page IMMEDIATELY. If you see this offer, click ‘save to card’. It will disappear as soon as 2,000 people have saved it.

American Express Amex Platinum card £400 free Marriott stays

I do NOT have this offer. It is possible that this is one for non-Londoners.

Do I really get £400 of free stays?

Yes. Here are the terms:

  • Spend £400 and get £400 cashback
  • You must stay by 23rd November
  • Valid at participating hotels

What hotels are ‘participating’?

Not many, unfortunately. However, they are all very high end and you’re in for a treat with your free £400.

£400 of free Marriott hotel stays

In the UK, your options are:

I live in London. This is pointless for me.

No it isn’t. Assuming that you simply don’t just fancy a change of scene, how about this?

Book the cheapest room you can find, and then spend the difference up to £400 in the hotel restaurant and bar. Go home at night if you must, then pop back to check out the next day.

Think of all the Marriott Bonvoy points you’ll earn as well.

There are numerous non-UK options too although only two German hotels are outside the UK quarantine rules.

If you are targetted for this offer, you are in for a great short break. Enjoy.

PS. On Tuesday, I hope to run another article showing the special benefits that you will get if you book via our hotel booking partner Emyr Thomas.

  • Ollie says:

I just saved this to my card as it was showing at 1232 BST, and I’m in London! Maybe because I rang up to complain about another devaluation of Platinum benefits last week (Global Dining Collection gone).

  • Sean says:

I take it that if you stayed at the Bulgari hotel then you wouldn’t get any Bonvoy Points but the £400 rebate would still clear?

  • AK says:

Any issues combining this with the 25% off and free breakfast offer for Bonvoy members?

  • Dominic says:

I happened to check my offers this morning and managed to get this. Also based in London and looking forward to using this for a treat in town.

    • Oli says:

Same. The Langley would not work because we’d need 2 rooms as we have 2 kids. Would be looking for a ”cheap” hotel in London and enjoy diner

      • Rob says:

Emyr will get you $100 per room credit plus free breakfast. You could therefore book up to £280 per room, on the basis that Emyr’s $100 credit would double up. Whatever you paid below £280 would go towards dinner.

        • Anna says:

I tried this for the RC Abu Dhabi last week – Emyr said that the hotel would refuse the 2nd credit if it was the same family staying!

          • Rob says:

For 2 rooms, 1 in each name? If both were booked in the same name I can see an issue.

      • A270 says:

There is an £80 extra person fee even to add one child. I think it is best for couples! The rooms are over £730 for people with one child. The rate shown on calendar is around £600 but that excludes taxes and extra person charge.

  • Ben says:

Anyone know if I can book on behalf of my parents? I have it on my card (based in Southern Germany), but unlikely I will be able to use within deadline. Can I book a London hotel and instruct them to charge my card (and provide all details etc.)
    Cheers,

    • Charlieface says:

Can’t begin to imagine why not. Amex don’t have your booking details, they just see a transaction

    • David says:

Is this a U.K. issued Amex that you have just moved the billing address to Germany or a German Amex?

If it’s a U.K. one, have you had any brexit related letters from them?

      • Ellingsen says:

GFE – I have a UK Platinum card with Swiss billing address, no Brexit information so far.

  • Kai says:

Hi everyone, so for this offer, do I book on Marriot.com with full prepayment or do I have to book through an agent (booking.com etc) to pay at check out? I’m a bit confused as the offer states check out spend only.
    Thanks

    • TGLoyalty says:

Pre paid is No problem as long as it’s charged before the end of the offer.

All hotels charge their own stays in Europe.

      • meta says:

Yep, but what if there is a local lockdown, UK is put on the quarantine list, Germany is put on the UK’s quarantine list. Nobody should be booking anything non-refundable at present and prepaid rates are usually non-refundable.

  • Nigel W says:

Does this offer work if you book via Amex FHR?

  • Will Smith says:

any idea how I can settle the transaction in GBP as per the T&Cs if booking for The hotels outside of the UK?
