Earn double Club Eurostar points on Eurostar trains to the Netherlands

The good news for anyone travelling between London and Amsterdam or Rotterdam is that DIRECT Eurostar return trains are about to start running.

Eurostar has been running from London TO Amsterdam and Rotterdam for a while now.

However, due to on-going work constructing immigration facilities, you could not travel TO London directly.

Passengers from Amsterdam needed to get off the train in Brussels, clear passport control and get back onto a different train to complete their trip.  Passengers from Rotterdam had to take a Thalys train to Brussels and change.

This nonsense is about to end.

From 30th April, trains will run directly from Amsterdam to St Pancras.  From 18th May, you will also be able to travel directly from Rotterdam to St Pancras.

If you book a ticket THIS WEEK (the final date to book is 25th February) for travel to Amsterdam between 30th April and 30th June, or Rotterdam between 18th May and 30th June, you will receive double Club Eurostar points.

I value a Club Eurostar point at 10p-12.5p as this article explains.   With this offer, you will be earning 2 points per £1 spent which means a rebate of 20p-25p per £1.

You can also transfer Eurostar points to the Accor Live Limitless hotel loyalty scheme at 1:3 (minimum transfer of 500 Eurostar points).  As Accor points transfer 1:1 to Avios in Iberia Plus, you could earn 6 Avios per £1 spent on Eurostar via this offer.  We explained how the Accor / Eurostar partnership works in this article.

How to get Club Eurostar points and lounge access from UK credit cards

How to get Club Eurostar points and lounge access from UK credit cards (April 2025)

Club Eurostar does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Club Eurostar points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 15:1 into Club Eurostar points.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, so you will get the equivalent of 1 Club Eurostar point for every £15 you spend.

American Express Platinum comes with a great Eurostar benefit – Eurostar lounge access!

You can enter any Eurostar lounge, irrespective of your ticket type, by showing The Platinum Card at the desk.  No guests are allowed but you can get entry for your partner by issuing them with a free supplementary Amex Platinum card on your account.

    From Business Traveller:

British Airways has today announced a new partnership between Barclays Premier and the Avios loyalty scheme.

Benefits of the new collaboration will launch “later this year”, and will include Barclays Premier customers being able to earn Avios through their current account “and other banking products”, as well as receiving “additional loyalty benefits and experiences”.

Exact details of the partnership have yet to be confirmed, with BA stating that “Barclays Premier customers and British Airways Executive Club members will be able to find out more details on the new programme, including eligibility and how to pre-register, later this year”.

According to the Barclays website, eligibility conditions of Premier Banking are “An annual gross income of £75,000 or more paid into a Barclays current account, or £100,000 or more saved or invested with us”.

Commenting on the news Andrew Crawley, CEO of the Avios Group said:

“We are always looking for new partnerships that will benefit members. Working with Barclays, their customers will be rewarded with Avios which can be redeemed in so many exciting ways including British Airways flights, car rental and experiences.”

Looking forward to getting more information.

Thanks. Will see how that develops. I’m not one for swapping current accounts normally, had mine for 30 years but may be tempted by this carrot on a stick.

OT: Hi, how many points are awarded for adding an additional card holder to Amex PRGC? And do the points have to be offered or just posted without an offer anyway? Thanks

    • SultanOfCroydon says:

3000 points. If you log into Amex on a desktop browser it should appear somewhere that you will get the 3000 points for the first additional cardholder. You don’t need to click on any offer tabs to get the bonus.

BA have two CDG flights leaving Paris within 10 mins of each other. Slot sitting? Climate change? Heathrow expansion?! No thanks! Who are they kidding with their fake measures and outrage.

  • aDifferentSimon says:

This’ll be nice. Especially given loads of hfp readers signed up during the 25k promo last year.

  • Rob says:

It is back in a few months – I know when but can’t tell you. Nothing to fuss about for quite a while yet.

    • Grant says:

Great news. I didn’t jump last time, but another opening bonus plus ongoing earning opportunities is a much more attractive proposition.

Barclays are also releasing an Emirates credit card so seems they’re still actively interested in keeping a presence in the travel sector. Be interesting to see if/when/what will happen to the Hilton card.

        • Rob says:

Not in the UK they’re not.

I wouldn’t get too attached to your Hilton card either …

      • Nate1309 says:

No Rob. Say it isn’t so. I love my HH card

  • Shoestring says:

    it’s a great price – almost exactly 1p/ point if you go for 100K + 50K [1,800 Euro equals
    1,498.52 Pound sterling]

nearly as good if you go for 80K + 40K = 1.024p/ point

load up if you are low on Avios, can’t do much without a big chunk in your bank

    • Secret Squirrel says:

Thought you would like that SS! 😉

      • Shoestring says:

I do worry that the last year saw our combined Avios balance decline – harder to go for big points earning opps these days – but 2 of my kids have hit 15 & 17 and don’t want to spend every school holiday out at our place in the sun any more 🙁 – so I won’t need to replenish 300K+ Avios / year any more, which was our old burn rate

        • Harry T says:

          @Shoestring
How do you generate 300k a year?! Buy some?

        • Shoestring says:

I bought £1000 worth a few years ago at 1p/ point via Iberia but never again

I *do* buy them on Avios + Money (when getting a reward flight) when that was 0.8p/ point but the last few flights the price had shifted to 0.86p so I declined

I wanted to cut our exposure a bit and I reckon we’ve net burned 300K over the last few years, ie maybe burned 900K but only earned back 600K over 3 years, something like that – I was just mildly uncomfortable about getting hit by a devaluation but now I’m getting mildly uncomfortable about not having enough in the bank! (still got enough by normal standards)

but my usual advice pertains: don’t listen too hard to the people who say only buy if you have a firm use in mind/ earn & burn is the best strategy/ there’s always a devaluation coming which is a FF constant – to all this I say possibly true but what a load of cobblers: if you don’t have enough Avios to grab opps as they arise, you are destined to miss out

easy to ensure you *always* use your Avios profitably, ie if you can’t get more than 1p of value, then use cash instead

Yeah that sounds about right, my eldest son at 15 got fed up of every Christmas ,Easter and Half terms in Teneriffe followed by 3 weeks in Orlando in the summer. That was through the 80s and 90s, happy days.
