IHG Rewards Club stops Lufthansa Miles & More points transfers – why?

IHG Rewards Club has stopped the transfer of points to Lufthansa Miles & More.
The scheme has, indeed, disappeared from the list of IHG airline partners here.
The transfer rate was not great at 5:1. I value an IHG point at 0.4p so you were effectively ‘paying’ 2p per airline mile.
However, Miles & More miles are relatively tricky to pick up – Miles & More does not sell miles, for example.
Hotel transfers were an easy way of topping off your account if you were a few thousand short for a redemption.
It isn’t clear what is behind this move – hopefully things will become clear over the next few days.
