Hilton Honors is running a new 100% bonus for buying 5,000+ Hilton Honors points.

If you’ve never bought hotel points, it can be a great deal. There’s an example below of how you can save 64% on an August holiday in Sardinia, for example, although you need at least Silver status in Hilton Honors to save this much.

Some people may see a smaller bonus percentage, or a price discount, as part of Hilton’s market testing. These offers are less generous.

Get a 100% bonus when you buy Hilton Honors hotel points

Most people seem to have had their annual purchase limit temporarily increased to 240,000 points before any bonus.

The Hilton ‘buy points’ page is here

The cost for the maximum 480,000 points (240,000 + 100%) would be £1,980 which is 0.41p per point. This is above our target valuation for a Hilton Honors points at 0.33p but you can still do ok at this level because Hilton caps the points cost of hotels on peak dates.

Here’s an example. Let’s look at Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia from 18th to 23rd August. The refundable cash rate is €953 per night for a deluxe room, so €4,763 for five nights.

For points, five nights will cost you (if you have status and get 5-4-4 on reward bookings) 360,000 Hilton Honors points. You could buy these for £1,485 which is €1,720. You would save 64%.

Do note that Hilton restricts new members from buying points immediately. The rule is:

A new Hilton Honors Member may purchase Points 30 days after enrollment if the account reflects activity including a stay (as defined herein) or earning Hilton Honors Points through a Hilton Hilton Honors Marketing Partner. After 90 days of enrollment, a new Member is eligible to purchase Points regardless of their account activity.

The page to buy points is here if you are interested. The offer runs to 29th May.

PS. If you are looking for a quick way to Hilton Honors Silver status to get ‘five reward nights for the points of four’, remember that the Hilton Honors Debit Card comes with free Silver status. The annual fee for the first year is currently halved to £30. Your status is updated immediately when you activate the card. Click here for our article on the deal and click here to apply.

I have 100% bonus but with the 160,00 cap.

I wonder at what point the variable discount rate and cap start to be considered permanent targeted offers as opposed to some form of testing which would usually have a relatively short lifetime, It feels like it’s years since they moved away from a standard offering and at this stage it’s surely doing something smarter than simply allocating users randomly as part of ‘market testing’.

    • Nick says:

Most companies include some kind of test or control group for every campaign – it’s how you see which one(s) are effective, as well as trends over time. The other way to look at it is to be thankful they do as it shows they still think the offer works overall.

As for airline schedules, DL has made quite a lot of changes for US-Europe. Either they’re uniquely suffering or it’s a sign of a reasonably chunky change in demand. Will be interesting to see what happens over the next few months. Like VS, BA’s profits come pretty much entirely entirely from transatlantic travel…

Yeah, I get that there will always be control groups when running any form of experimentation. My point is that if a campaign is running for a number of years, there may be a point where it no longer should be considered to be an A/B or MVT campaign and instead is more along the lines of targeted personalised offers.

Or maybe it’s just a really long test campaign…..

@john G. I did read on another site its a lunchtime / early afternoon flight, unfortunately i do not have a flight number.

  • Lee says:

I only got 80% extra and I did not do it.

  • ADS says:

“Will this finally be the launch of Seoul?”

with this being an extra “remedy” slot … will Virgin be shifting aircraft from Manchester to operate this route?

  • Daniel says:

It is unfortunate they are pulling back on Toronto. I flew over in recent days and had booked before they changed to dynamic pricing so was happy with that. The crew were excellent and the later timing worked for me.
On a slightly funny note at the checkin in heathrow the agent kept asking if I had an ESTA. I had to explain I have a Canadian ETA but she kept insisting. In the end a supervisor sorted it out and I resisted any comments about it not being a 51st state 😃

      🤣

    • Charles Martel says:

BA denied me boarding to a flight to Canada because I had neither a Canadian passport, permanent resident card or ETA. I did have a permanent resident travel document sticker in my passport but they had no idea what it was. I’m still furious.

  • Graham Walsh says:

I needed a hotel for a few nights before a cruise and obviously all the hotels jack the prices up. Booked a Hilton on points that I had yesterday.

Just looked at replacing points in this offer and if were to buy 60+60k free, it would save me £100 less than the cash booking. So still a good offer.

  • Jey says:

I have the 45% offer, too, and for me it might be a good deal. The hotel I’m looking at in November will cost me around £900 if I pay cash but if I buy the points I need (less the 20,000 points I currently have) and pay with those, I get a free night and will only be paying £500. Bargain.
