Last day for IHG’s (genuinely good) UK and EU hotel flash sale

I wanted to do a quick reminder today of two good IHG Rewards Club offers which are currently running and which both end TONIGHT.
LAST DAY: IHG’s 5-day UK and Europe flash sale
IHG Rewards Club has been running a short flash sale for the UK and Europe this week. This covers InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites etc.
You can get up to 30% off at more than 600 hotels in over 100 cities throughout Europe. You need to book by tonight and stay between 5th April 2019 and 31st January 2020.
You can only book via this link.
The prices on offer are genuinely good and are genuinely lower than the comparable Advanced Purchase Rate. This is not one of those sales where the prices are fudged to give a false impression. For example, based on a random date in mid April:
A Classic Room at the InterContinental Paris – Le Grand (pictured above, which we reviewed here) costs £231 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £349 per night)
A Superior Room at the fairly new InterContinental Ljubljana (which we reviewed here) costs £115 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £139 per night)
A One Bed, Two Bed or Standard Room at the BRAND NEW Holiday Inn London Heathrow Bath Road (review is here) costs £68 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £87 per night)
An Ocean View Deluxe King Room at the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril (review is here) costs £155 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £199 per night)
A Standard Room or a Studio Suite at the brand new Staybridge Suites in Manchester (which we reviewed here) costs £97 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £122 per night)
If you have existing flexible IHG bookings for the Summer which can be changed, you may want to check the pricing. You may feel happier turning an existing refundable rate into a non-refundable booking as the date gets nearer.
The IHG flash sale booking site is here. You have until tonight to book these sale rates.
LAST DAY: 100% bonus when you buy IHG Rewards Club points
Separate to the room sale, IHG Rewards Club – the InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza etc scheme – has been running another ‘buy points’ sale this week with a bonus of 100% when you buy over 7,000 points. 100% is as generous an offer as you will ever see for IHG points.
The deal ends tonight, Friday 22nd March.
The page to buy points is here.
The standard prices, before the bonus, are:
- 1,000 – 10,000 points for $13.50 per 1,000 points
- 11,000 – 25,000 points for $11.50 per 1,000 points
- 26,000 – 100,000 points for $10 per 1,000 points
The usual limit of 60,000 points per year has been lifted. I’m not sure if everyone gets a higher limit or not.
With a 100% bonus, you would be able to buy 200,000 IHG points for (at current exchange rates for $1000) £754.
At the top end of the IHG Rewards Club portfolio, you have InterContinental properties which top out at 60,000 – 70,000 points per night. That’s what you would pay for InterContinental Le Grand in Paris or the InterContinental Amstel in Amsterdam pictured above.
You should look at this if you have a ‘buy points’ target for the latest Rewards Night Faster promotion – although it makes more sense to buy 7,000 and get the bonus than buy 1,000 for no bonus.
If you are topping off your account, it is also a good deal irrespective of the exact cents per point cost. The maximum number of points you can buy per year is 200,000 (ie 100,000 plus the 100,000 bonus if you were offered the maximum 100% extra).
You can buy via this link. The offer ends today.
