Between today and Monday 26th November, British Airways is selling two Club World seats to selected destinations for £2018.  That’s just £1009 return per person.

You cannot book for one person at these rates.  However, it does seem to work for three and other odd numbers.

The deal is only valid for selected destinations.  I was genuinely surprised to see Abu Dhabi as the Middle East is normally very busy over Christmas anyway.

BA Holidays is also running its own Black Friday bonus.  For ‘flight + hotel’ or ‘flight + car ‘ holidays booked for travel between 1st December 2018 and 20 October 2019 you will:

  • Save £100 on holidays with a minimum spend of £2,500 per booking
  • Save £50 on holidays with a minimum spend of £1,250 per booking

To maximise your miles when paying, your best bet is the British Airways American Express Premium Plus card which earns double Avios (3 per £1) when you book at ba.com or via BA Holidays.  You do not get double Avios if you book with the free British Airways American Express card.  Another option is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold which offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.

    This even “worked” for my wife and our lap infant: LHR-SHA £1025

    Couldn’t get to price up on BA last night but was showing on various lesser known OTAs via Kayak last night so gave it a punt. Was ticketed this morning and managed to choose bassinet seats so no problems so far.

    Virgin Atlantic seems to be working for indirect flights with Delta to get better availability, very limited for the direct routes. This is great as indirect not working with BA with BA metal being needed to work! Damn you AA!!!

        What if you don’t have the avios for a redemption? Not everyone collects them anyway.

        This is not swings and roundabouts given the low % of reward seats there are compared to revenue.

        Just be fair to solo travellers and give us the low fares too.

          Honestly, you’re just having a whinge. I travel solo and other times as a party of 4. Both aren’t great for deals or redemptions. Those are the breaks. Popular markets drive the deals *shrugs*

    How can you get this deal with an infant and 2 adults? When I do 2 adults to Abu Dhabi it comes up to £2016.00 but if I do 2 adults and an infant it goes up to £3800!!

      Book the 2 adults and then ring CS and ask them to add infant to your PNR. Make sure they waive the service charge for booking over the phone.

    OT (or at least tangential)

    New to points and planning (way) ahead for a family holiday to S.Africa Autumn 2020, prob Oct half term.
    As I may need to book reward flights in 12 months I thus need to start collecting aggressively points and 241 vouchers about now. That’s all in hand but here’s where I’d like some advice:

    I’ll need 3 seats. BAPP voucher covers 2 of those. But looking at the cash price of the 3rd seat in CW at T-355, its not cheap. This plus taxes on 2 CW redemptions and the total cost, approaching £4k, seems barely worth using the avios for.

    What’s the chances of:
    picking up the cash CW ticket at some point after T-355 in a sale such as this one?
    Buying 3 flat bed seats from another carrier at these sort of prices (£1k ea) and banking the avios?
    We’d consider positioning into Europe – LHR not that convenient anyway – if long haul was direct.
    Only really want CW if overnight, but WTP rewards are like hens teeth.

    I realise this is a dark art, but any advice welcome, sorry for length of post!
