News in brief:

Get 500 Marriott Rewards points for following them on Instagram

Marriott is offering 500 free Marriott Rewards points if you follow them on Instagram before 21st June.

The good news is that you don’t need to have a smartphone to do this.  You can use Instagram as a normal desktop website, so you have no excuse not to do this whatever your phone.

I only value these points at around £2.50 but as it will only take a few seconds to complete the task it is not a bad return on your time!

The Marriott Rewards Instagram page, which includes a link to join Instagram, is here.

Get €20 off an airberlin flight

If you travelling in Europe this Summer, this airberlin discount code may be of interest.

Sign up for the airberlin newsletter via this page on their website and you will receive 2 x €10 airberlin voucher codes to use on future flights.  Remember that all airberlin flights earn Avios and British Airways Executive Club tier points.

Speaking of airberlin, Anika will be flying them from New York to Berlin in business class next month.  With tax of just £3 this remains excellent value as a one-way redemption.  She will be doing a full review of the seat, food and service.

Rob, Would this stop Marriott rewards points from expiring?

  • DS says:

    Speaking of Air Berlin :

Recommend topbonus to your colleagues and friends and for every referral secure yourself up to 1,000 miles for attractive rewards and free flights.*

    Here’s how easy it is:
•Log in to your online profile here and invite your colleagues and friends to topbonus
•If the referred person successfully registers for topbonus and the newsletter, we will credit you with 500 award miles
•And best of all: until 31 July, we will double your award miles for every extra referral after the first one – that’s 1,000 award miles per referral! So invite multiple friends now and secure many extra miles!
Your colleagues and friends naturally benefit from your referral too: upon successful topbonus registration and subscription to the newsletter, they will each receive up to 1,000 award miles as a welcome gift.

Sounds like one for Raffles – HFP doesn’t run on air! 🙂

      • Ed says:

So how many air Berlin accounts can someone set up before they pull this offer? 101 accounts (+one for yourself) and that over 100k miles

        • xcalx says:

You can refer a maximum of 10 people for 10500 points enough for a intereurope flight.

          • Raffles says:

No RFS though so unlikely to be great value even with the miles for free!

          • Chris says:

Rob, are you saying dont bother with the invite a friend free points ?

          • Rob says:

I am not bothering with it – no plans to book ant short haul on anyone other than BA where RFS would swing it for Avios.

          • TimS says:

I think he is saying that there are better options than Air Berlin in general so not worth the effort kust for the sake of 1000 miles.

          • Chris says:

Well its actually 10500 for referring 10 friends and considering I´m in Spain maybe have more flight options than you guys in the UK.
Also, didn’t Rob recommend putting the Eithad rewards in airberlin ?
Makes sense to keep building them up…,,,,for free.

  • JamesWag says:

How much tax would it be if the AirBerlin flight were booked with AB’s own FFP (TopBonus) points ?

    • Raffles says:

Do a BA.com cash booking and see what the tax figure is. Heathrow charge alone is £32.

  • harry says:

O/T my Virgin 500 points for a ‘newsletter’ purchase got posted
