Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Get 25% bonus Avios when you convert Shangri-La Golden Circle hotel points

The Shangri-La hotel chain is offering a 25% bonus when you convert your points into Avios.

It also works for five other airline schemes – Asia Miles, Flying Blue, SAA Voyager, Miles & More and United Mileage Plus.

Full details can be found here.

You need a minimum of 2,500 points to make a transfer so anyone who has 1,200 from the Golden Circle promotion I covered last year will not be able to take part.

Frankly, I would not recommend this as a great deal, even with a 25% bonus.  You can use 1,000 points for a $100 food credit at a Shangri-La hotel, so taking just 1,250 Avios for the same 1,000 points loses about 80% of the value!

The promotion runs until 30th June.

#bonkers ! I think this would only appeal to someone who has no prospect of visiting a Shangri-la!

This must go down as one of the worst “bonus” conversions in 2014 – other suggestions to make the top 3?
